Freddiethebass1 0
I'd rather ARTPOP be compared to Blondie than Selena Gomez tbh, like some users here have pointed out. I can't. Yeah that's true. I deffinitely don't want her going a mainstream route. BTW was my favorite era :) I just really liked how hard hitting, passionate, dark, and pleasantly abrasive her beats were on BTW (HML, BM, GH, etc..) And with this concert set, I kind of missed that from gaga (besides aura and maybe swine).
Kermit the frog 1,921
Oh plz, that wad just an act for her little monsters. Her preaching was extremely annonying but she was at her best.
Dreamscape1896 0
I can see what you mean. However, what movement is a song like "Jewels N' Drugs," following? It's not like it's trying to engage in the legalization of marijuana. It's not really engaging in something more. I agree with Gaga when she said at one of the Born This Way Balls that ARTPOP was more immature. To me, it's because it doesn't support a universal message. Instead of it being more mature, it's more or less a reflection of some moments. Swine is reflection of what she has done to get to where she is, I Wanna Be With You is a reflection she will miss her fans after cancelling the BTWT; for the most part ARTPOP seems to be Paper Gangstas. I think we just think differently. To me, the message of Born This Way could have been mature and deep, yet, it came off uninspired and sort of childish, in my opinion. Lyrics like, "I just want friends who invite me to their parties," and songs like Bad Kids just felt really immature. See, that to me all seemed so immature. ARTPOP sounds more refined, more poetic, just more adult. I relate to it better I guess. And it doesn't have to be about marijuana legalization. The song doesn't have to be trying to make a grand epic statement to be mature. I wasn't looking for a sing-song on pot advocacy, I was looking for an adult themed song on s-x, d--gs, money, and the allure of it. We're just looking for different things. To me, this is her most mature, inspired work to date. This is more Born This Way than Born This Way. Now, finally, she is being real with herself. xzxyyxzx 116
I have realised that she will never top The Fame Monster, you should do it too :) She is not the songwriter she used to be not the songwriter she used to be? :(
Optimus 298
not the songwriter she used to be? :( Yes! None of the new songs cant even come close to ALEJANDRO! Let alone Bad Romance or DITD
AbuHassan1992 766
This is totally me. Hearing the new stuff today literally made my heart sink. I love her to death but it just wasn't for me at all. I did like Swine though, just definitely not happy with Jewels N' Drugs. Makes me feel like she's being something she's not with that song just to be more commercial. It just, idk. Maybe I'll change my mind after hearing it more but idk if it's very likely. I love some of the songs, so maybe I'll like the rest that are on the album. Guess we'll see, I just feel heartbroken though. Also, I wasn't expecting it to sound like TF or BTW but I def wasn't expecting it to sound how it did. And you should know this is coming from someone who literally doesn't have a single Gaga song that she dislikes...ever. she's always been a huge fan of hip-hop
lastlinefirst 1
she's always been a huge fan of hip-hop I'm totally all for her doing a hip-hop song, just saying it's not my thing. I will support her just will take me a while to like/get used to.
luxepussy 0
the only songs that were a bit "blah" for me were MANiCURE & I Wanna Be With You. i LOVED the rest. but perhaps, as she said before, these aren't the final versions that will appear on the album [although i have a hunch they are LOL]. RAMROD 109,554
Iam still in mental break down of that flawlessness shown at SwineFest. And I ain't even there! notsniw 1
I only like MANiCURE. Sex Dreams and ARTPOP sounds very 80's and dated. The ballad is okay. And I dislike rap music.
Cappuccino 11
Yes! None of the new songs cant even come close to ALEJANDRO! JesseBabe 837
I'm not going to lie, I agree with you in some ways. I love Gaga, but I can't figure out if I like this era or if it's too early to tell yet. I did like Applause, the verses were kind of weird, but the chorus had me loving the song at first listen, her VMA performance I thought was wonderful. I felt like she did really good, and looked GREAT. I loved the concept of all the eras and custume changes she had, but, her iTunes festival left me feeling somewhat the same as you did. I kept trying to find a song I liked, a catchy hook or verse in each song she played, but I was left with feeling confused. I feel like HARDCORE Gaga fans are quick to jump and attack someone that has an opinion on her other than "SLAYING", but I feel like her new stuff is, different . I've been a Gaga fan for years, and I loved all her albums, but I felt like Born This Way was too much for the general public who aren't active Gaga fans and I feel like she hasn't really had a radio friendly single since TFM. Born This Way was dark and very odd to some people, don't get me wrong, it's one of my FAVORITE albums and I can listen to it on repeat, but it's not an album I can put on in a car ride to the beach and have people sing along to it. They don't get it. I agree it takes some time to get used to her new stuff, but some people don't want to take the time to listen to it again, and that could result in low sales. I'm gonna buy her album, and I'm sure I'll enjoy all the tracks, including the ones she played tonight, but I just feel like right now, I'm confused and a little disappointed. Morbid 121
I will never stop loving Gaga. Even if I end up not liking ARTPOP as much as her previous material, I'll still be there supporting her. Aura, Swine, and Applause have been the only songs I truly loved so far. I am sure the rest of the songs will grow on me, but so far they are okay. I loved her performances of all the songs though! Except for some of the lip syncing.
