It's great to see Gaga happier and it's very strong of her to be so vulnerable in front of us (her fans) While it was refreshing to see her performing again, I just feel a bit underwhelmed with the songs. The songs/performances that stand out the most for me are Aura and Swine, but apart from that, I'm just not "feeling it" for most others. I don't quite understand the fanbase for "Sex Dreams"; for whatever reason, it just doesn't appeal to me. But hey, that's just my opinion and everyone has their own preference.

 

I really hope that once the album comes out, that I'll appreciate the songs more, but after watching/listening to the performance a couple times now, I didn't come to like her new stuff as much as I thought. Not that I hate her new stuff or anything of the sort; it's great to see her expressing herself and finding a variety of ways to convey that in such unique songs. It's just so far, not my cup of tea unfortunately :

I was so in love with the whole set. I am thrilled with the new songs and cant wait for ARTPOP. She sounded and looked amazing dammit!

Well, MANiCURE is growing on me (although it still sounds like The Fame was revived), esp. because it's in a key that's very easy for me to sing in. But I was disappointed with some of the other songs, and the fact that Aura was literally the exact same (unless she just played the demo on purpose to emphasize the point that the album versions will differ.) I only liked parts of Swine, while Sex Dreams , J&D and I Wanna Be With U fell below my expectations for music that, out of 100 possible songs, made the cut to the top 15.

well you can have your opinion, and that is respected and well written. I thoroughly enjoyed all the fast paced songs, I've never been a fan of her ballads hence the disappointment with yuyi and edge, which was basically a ballad. i'm a genuine pop music fan and want to hear her perform pop songs.

I think ARTPOP is going to be a grower on me, certainly. Unlike The Fame Monster and Born This Way it won't be something I'll be mad about off the bat, unless the studio versions are drastically different. ARTPOP is like The Fame to me.

 

I am glad she is back & performing, though. She looked so happy last night & really enjoyed herself. That's all that really matters.

It's hard to judge the songs that we heard. Aura is an easy win for me, and I thought MANiCURE was a fairly good mainstream-hit sounding tune. I enjoyed ARTPOP, Sex Dreams and Swine too.

 

On the other hand I really didn't like Jewels N' Drugs but that's just my taste. I think her ballad I Wanna Be With You was great live and with just her and her piano, but she said you can play the record start to finish in the club so I think that might get pulled into electro-beats that might change my opinion of it.

 

If anything, this set reaffirmed my love for Applause. I don't understand the flop comments (critically) from some Monsters about it. The chorus is so rich with the A-P-P-L-A-U-S-E behind the forefront lyrics. The only thing I'd say aside from all of this is that I hope Gaga is as happy as she says she is in her interviews...

Honestly this may have potential to be her second best album. ARTPOP is what got my attention the most, the other songs I need to hear the studio versions, but they sound better than most on Born This Way and the non singles from The Fame. I was pissed that she release Applause but i'm getting faith again that this album will be good. But at the same time I agree that the old songs / the past Eras were just too good that nothing new will top it in ways. If this is as good as TFM I will be happy.

Swine sounds try hard to me. MANiCURE sound like filler. IWBWY is very basic and cheesy. Idk what to make out of J&D.

I really, really dislike the two new fan favorites. I always seem to hate the songs everyone else loves. On Born This Way I despised Heavy Metal Lover and The Queen, now I can't stand Jewels & Drugs and I Wanna Be With You. It seems that people just love her most basic songs

Sadly enough, a lot of people hate The Queen :cry: it's one of my favorites.
