Anyone else think I Wanna Be With You will just be for the app? I absolutely love the song, but it was the only song not written in tape on the piano, and I don't think it fits Gaga's description of "pop it in and it's one long night at the club."

well about hand held mic.. Have you seen that Gaga wasn't singing all the songs live? I can't really remember which, but it seemed that 2 to 3 songs were sang completely with phonogram. You could have seen it clearly.

My favorite part was when she showed us her real self...

I know right, I got very emotional. Kept thinking, "She has never done this before.. whoa." It was brave of her to do so, and then share her sh1tty experiences pre-Fame.

Watching it again right now. She looks so happy when performing ARTPOP and Sex Dreams

You pinpointed it exactly. She seems so content and at peace during ARTPOP that it made for a very transcendent performance. She was grinning throughout Sex Dreams so much that despite the gyrating and dat ass, her smile is the s-xiest thing about her. :flutter:

I dont think she was miming or anything. I think her backing vocals were very loud for some particular reason. I also think she hasnt got used to using her hand mic properly, usually she uses a face microphone so doesnt have to worry about her arm being at her face. So she's dancing and moving the mic away out of habit.

 

A combination of these two leads to it looking she was miming. but she wasnt.

According to the description Gaga gave is a listening party for the album, and all of her collaborators being there (Abramovic, Robert Wilson, Koons, I&V) but not her performing or anything like that.

Overall, I thought it was great! I thought she'd be performing more than just new songs though and more than 8 songs in over an hour.  There was too much down-time at times which kinda made the show lose momentum. But the new songs sounded fantastic! It sounds like there's going to be a lot of variety on the album based on these songs.

 

1. "Aura" kicked ass! I loved the cage! Those are the theatrics I love so much from Gaga. That song just makes you wanna go nuts! I bet it will kick so much ass live, in person.
2. "MANiCURE" is such a cute song! Cute performance too. It's really catchy and fun. Reminds me of something from The Fame. I also love that wig on her! She looks so cute and retro.
3. "ARTPOP" isn't at all like I expected it to be. I thought it'd be a fast-paced, dancey track. I suppose the album version could be different, but I dug how dreamy it sounded. Gave me some Massive Attack vibes. Those "hee hee" backing vocals are a little strange though.
4. "Jewels & Drugs" is probably going to be a very divisive song. I actually really enjoyed it though! I can get behind a little RapGa.  ;)  It's a dirty, s-xy song. Didn't really care for Too Short's verse, but Twista's really wowed me.
5. "Sex Dreams" is a hit! It's so s-xy and dreamy and catchy. I love how she's talking to the different lovers during the verses. That's brilliant. I wasn't crazy about the choreography, but the song itself is divine.
6. "Swine" completely stole the show for me though. Everything about it was amazing. I loved the genre changes, how insane and intense it was, her screaming, how she alternated between her keyboard and drums, the whole spectacle of the painting/flying gas mask pigs. Perfection! And I loved her whole speech before it - it was really beautiful and insightful.
7. "I Wanna Be With You" is a nice little ballad. It's sweet and kinda sad. Didn't totally blow me away or anything, but it was lovely.
8. "Applause" has grown on me so much! This was a good performance of it too. Loved the top hat and pipe haha! And that hair is adorable on her!

So today I finally had a free hour to watch the performance, and I am completely slayed. She was ****ing amazing! Everything about the performance was perfect, her voice was great and I'm really glad she focused on her singing more but also managed to pull good moves and act.

Aura's performance was really good and her vocals were on point.

I like MANiCURE for being such a cute and fun pop song that reminds me a bit of Gwen Stefani's stuff.

ARTPOP is different from what I expected but I like how cute and s-xy it sounds.

Jewels & Drugs is a trap jam and I didn't expect Gaga to deliver a trap song in such an awesome way. All the features are good and they really add to the track.

Sex Dreams was great and I really liked the catchy chorus and the synths.

I loved Swine just from the snippet and I just love how it brings so many genres into one track. I hope they'll keep it on the album version as well, because it sounds amazing. I was also touched by her speech before Swine's performance.

I Wanna Be with You is also a good song, personal ballad, she sang it very well.

Applause sounded so good, much better than in the VMAs, and I also really liked the intro. I also liked that green coat and pipe.

 

Overall it was just amazing. I also loved how honest she was: dressing/undressing on stage, showing her real hair, just the way she talked was down-to-earth and not very preachy or pretentious.

SwineFest may be one of the best things she's ever done in my opinion. I'm more than ready for ARTPOP
