Greece has restored and reopened 10 Ottoman-era monuments within just six months, highlighting efforts to preserve the country's diverse architectural heritage.

The restoration works have brought historic baths, mosques and other Ottoman-era structures back into public view, preserving an important part of Greece's multicultural past.

These include the Castle Baths at Ioannina Castle, Twin Baths at Veroia and Bey Baths at Thessanoliniki.

Yeah, its a really fine line and I do feel like some cross the line.

But on the whole, I support the principles and motivation behind the move.

The day Mediteraneans, North African and Oriental ppl will finally aknowledge how much intertwined their culture and heritage is, despite of religion wars... And then all Humans aknowledge how much we are different but the same... It would be a victory for Humanity !

It’s a good news imo

Controversiaga

They look way too modern, thus making them feel completely insignificant and as though the original structures were lost and destroyed in the process of these “restorations”.  They should have focused on preservation and maintenance rather than completely rebuild

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

I may be too influenced by the architecture of Istanbul, whose historic buildings were greatly renovated/restored, but they still look acurrately historic to me.

I am well aware that many renovations fall short and I guess Valide Mosque in Mytilene seems pretty extensively rebuilt on the exterior, but the others look well-done in my opinion.

In my opinion, a recent restoration that looks bad and too modern is the restoration of Notre Dame. :ohno:
