mr.peter 3,551
I like the song but I love weird songs, at first I find the chorus a mess, for me is an amazing mess cause I love untempo songs and weird contructions but don't you feel that it's a difficult to follow chorus? Or why do you think you can't get into it? I'm trying to see what are the reasons why is not doing very well, I love overa--lyze I guess It just doesn't have that magic! that amazing pop genius hook gaga is known for. I really don't know how interscope said "YES this is the first single" when the song first came out after like 5 listens i still had no idea what the hell was the hook... I think the verses are 10x more stronger than the actual chorus. I'll admit i'll be really surprised if this song picks up and becomes a hit... I hope it will for the the simple fact that I love Gaga to pieces and want her to succeed more than anyone. GOD she better breathe some life into APPLAUSE with the video and VMA performance, Edited August 17, 2013 by mr.peter
Bat 6,162
Whatever, idc if it's number 20 on the iTunes US as if that makes the song any different to me.
Sleigh Mama 0
Is this chart more important than I realize? Perez Hilton is an ass, but he was right about Applause. It's a club song and it's a grower not a shower. I think most people realized that the first time they heard it. Everyone I've shown Applause to seems to kinda like it, but they are still kinda like "wtf' at first. Katy's is very easy on the ears and just a more commercial pop song. I'm sure this point has been made dozens of times on here, but I'm repeating it anyways. Also I'm kinda annoyed that the release of Applause seems to be out-shined in the media by this singles war. C'mon guys "Stop the drama, start the music!". Gaga's not going anywhere.
Pop Angel 0
But still, can somebody in US confirm whether it is getting some radio airplay now? How should GP know the song if they dont hear it everyday in the radio... fans alrady bought it because they follow Gaga, rest is down to radio stations. Once the applause will be there every hour, digital sales will go up too. Its kinda scary (radio bosses have a lot of power), but it works like that. Glam 18
I think chart success shouldn't be prioritised at the moment until after the video premiere and the VMA performance.

It's airplay is rising, but it's not getting a lot yet. It's airplay is comparable to the songs at #7 - #10 on iTunes right now, so she'll probably fall to those levels before stabilizing. The songs ahead of her are either getting promoted on TV in some form or getting more airplay. Edited August 17, 2013 by Americano

I have yet to hear Applause or Roar and I've probably spend an hour a day in the car this week listening. But I live in South Texas and everything in general is just late/behind trend here. lol I get to hear Blurred Lines 4 times a day though
