BigDreamer 79
The true test of this song will come after The official radio deals, music video, and vmas. I expect a pleasant second week (which truthfully should have been its first week and wouldnt have to compete as hard with ROAR) Gaga is known for her Videos, and her VMA performances just as well as the music itself. If she stuns and has the grand ideas that we are all hoping she had time to nest over the past 6 months then there is no need to sweat its success. Keep calm and ride out the first week of "rushed release" results. You cant exactly say you are surprised considering the circumstances. Take Katy Perrys Vevo views and likes vs Gagas Applause audio and Lyrics video into consideration. Gaga has surpassed her with that and I expect once its more accessible with radio and promotion its going to do good things. Now there is the tea Be careful its hot ;)
Emvee 8,458
Harlem Shake springs to mind. But aside from that, some of the biggest songs of all time have been completely unrelatable and non-nonsensical. Thriller and Bohemian Rhapsody anyone? HS was a YouTube sensation, not a hit song. Thriller and Bohemian Rhapsody catered to a different audience in a different time. They're legendary songs now only because older generations keep them alive. I have to say, though, Applause would have done well in the 80s :)
Checkers 3,515
screw watching the charts. we enjoy the song whats the big deal? We could watch the charts while listening to the song

I have to say, though, Applause would have done well in the 80s :) But it doesn't matter if it was an internet sensation or not. It still reached #1 on the Hot 100. And Thriller and Bohemian Rhapsody weren't catering to a different audience. Michael Jackson and Queen were both very commercial acts who's music was listened to by the wide public. Alvaro 5
I honestly don't think the song will go #1 even after next week. Gaga is not very well known for longevity (BTW is the perfect example). It would have probably gone #1 if it had been released next week like it was supposed to, but unfortunately the rush release happened. Skins 40
So pissed that she's used to be #1 in 53 countries and slipped into #3 in USA.
Honey Boo Boo 203
Looking at the US chart, Applause looks like it hasn't even increased once. Applause is still #1 in Malaysia though. I love my country. A dolla makes me holla!💰💵💸
ChicaSkas 23,331
Don't hurtle tomatoes at me, but it's frankly AMAZING the song is doing as well as it is, considering it is not as strong a frontrunner as Bad Romance or Born This Way. This is fabulous chart dominance for a song like Applause! Do YOU own the 4' by 6' Perfect Illusion promo Poster? Will pay you for it. PopMayhem 0
So pissed that she's used to be #1 in 53 countries and slipped into #3 in USA. it's easier to reach #1 on iTunes in others countries than the USA jsyk
Honey Boo Boo 203
__ Update: Lady Gaga has 31 #1's for her album, which is like higher by 27 comparing to the 2nd highest amount of #1's for albums, which is 4 #1's held by Daft Punk. Although it WAS 50+. Lady Gaga has 28 #1's for her single, Katy has 27 #1's for her single and Avicii has 19 #1's for their single. Close competition. Although Lady Gaga had up to 50+ #1's for her single. Does that mean Madonna still controls the record for Most Pre-ordered Album on iTunes? Or does Lady Gaga still hold it although it fell terribly because she already -broke- it? Gaga is Life 101
Well, I hope this is all reversed next week. I'm looking forward to hearing it on the radio and seeing all the other stuff And it's not like it can't be #1 because like hardly anyone's buying it, and like no one at school knows what Applause is. I say to them "buy Applause from iTunes please" and they're just like "what's an Applause I don't buy things from iTunes ".

Told them to buy it on Itunes and they were like "Itunes? What the hell is that" I swear I live in the wrong country,
elysaint 51
Just because it's #3 on the iTunes chart doesn't mean it will be #3 on the Billboard chart ... She is doing much better than Katy in streaming And I think people are failing to see the fact that her iTunes charting is split because of the ARTPOP preorders, .
