Sister 9,907
Some of y'all just need to calm down and enjoy the music. It's one thing to want Gaga to be successful. It's another thing to be obsessed with charts and the GP's reaction. I also can't deal with how many people were freaking out for new material, and now that we have it, so many people have just complained about EVERYTHING. You don't have to enjoy every single thing Gaga does, but the incessant negativity is very draining. So Right On... The future's uncertain and the end is always near. monketsharona 83,556
No, Poker Face was, superficially, a song about hiding your true intentions from a guy to keep him interested. A subject that can be universal. Applause is about her relationship with her fans. Lol how many people have fans? most people don't care about lyrics... Jellybean Monster 10
I feel like Lady Gagas biggest moment has passed :( I am afraid that the GP saw her as a fun gimmick which is no longer interesting. If you look outside this forum, most people either think she is annoying or just not interesting any more :( I wholly disagree. If you're going to base it entirely off what you see people say on forum communities around the internet then you're going to be looking at a very lopsided opinion. It's 1 song, and is #2 out of how many in the US? On iTunes, only so far. I mean let's be realistic. She's been off the radio, and out of public sight, and therefor out of public mind for a long time now. It's been more than two years since she's released any real new music. But if this the GP opinion, Applause would not even of cracked top 10 and nobody would care about anything she does, and she would not sell out tours that last twice as long as anyone elses. And arguably, the BTW era was a bit underwhelming, people are going to be giving her a rougher time this time around. We have not heard the rest of what ARTPOP offers, and therefor should reserve ultimate judgement and negativity until a while after the album drops. Katy Perry has had several advantages to these numbers that Gaga hasn't really had. Katy is also not very controversial, whereas Gaga always has been. She's not everybody's cup of tea, Katy is easy to love for everyone. I'm a fan of both ladies, but I really believe Gaga has the superior song. ROAR is a good song, but I don't think it's great because it sounds sooo much like many other things that have already been out there including some of Katy's last album. Just not feeling it as much as Applause. Edited August 15, 2013 by Jellybean Monster
ThomastheMonster 288
For those of you comparing Roar's success to Applause's success, take these few things into consideration We know we are worried about Gaga's position on the chart's and that Katy is doing better so far, but her song leaked 2-3 days before the official release date. Not 7. Katy's song was already sent officially to radio, which is why it has more spins. Gaga's song will be sent to radio the 19th I presume, when it was meant to come out. Gaga and Katy and that Blurred Lines guy will all be attending the VMA's, but who do you think will have the most shocking, most memorable performance out of the three? Of course it will be Gaga. Interscope will NOT, I repeat will NOT let Gaga's first single flop. She is NOT over. Yes the song is declining on U.S iTunes and some other countries but that's because all the monsters already bought it. It will be sent to radio next week, have more spins, the video will come out and add more streams(tons more if it's a really good video) then the VMA'S will come. Gaga will shock. She will win the GP over again. Her live killer vocals, a killer dance routine, and the theme of the performance. You have to realize she is rebuilding herself. She did lose a mjority of the GP after Born THis Way. She will slowly but surely gain them back. Applause may not debut #1 on the U.S iTunes, BUT it will have a strong chance after all that amazing promo, not to mention the GMA's and iTunes festivle. The lowest it will go in the U.S is #3. That's not low at all. We are just used to having Gaga DOMINATE the charts because people jumped on her bandwagon and everyone loved her, and she fell after BTW. But she will rise again ok guys I know we don't mean to be stressful and what not or tense, but it's just because we care for GAGA.

Jjang 2,262
Is it STILL #1 in 50 countries? I heard it dropped to #1 in 32 countries

The gp aren't really aware of the song

I agree with all of this^^ Also, I think it would be lame to have all the gp on the gaga bandwagon anyway! Monsters seem to be unique people and adding all kinds of people jumping on the bandwagon would make the fan base blahhhh. But i still hope Gaga dominates the charts again which she is and will be. justbrian 98
I know everyone's saying this but KP is also performing at the VMAs and she's done way more promo for it. Robin Thicke is performing too. I mean, as long as KP, Thicke and Gaga are the top 3, does it really matter? www.brianhowarddesign.com

It'll probably happen in a matter of hours.
