MelbHawker 6,583
People need to relax about it's position on the charts. It was released straight after 'Roar' dropped. There are songs that are currently peaking in popularity. There's competition. And most Gaga fans don't even buy her music.. they just illegally download for free. Applause has gone #1 in 50 countries. That's phenomenal. It'll keep charting well with the video dropping on Monday, VMA's the week after, the iTunes festival after that, plus interviews etc. Relax guys. It's been out for like.. 3 days. It'll become a inescapable on radio. Relax!!
Jjang 2,262
I don't care, like. Stop being so stressful. I'll just show a list of the biggest hits of the past years that DID NOT REACH #1. Stay (Rihanna) - #3 Bad Romance (:hor) - #2 4 Minutes (Medoner) - #3 Give It To Me (Medoner) - #57 (what the hell. That song was huge here :O) Sorry (Madonna) - #58 (again, a huge worldwide hit that was just not successful in the US) Hung Up (Madonna) - #7 (this is one of the most successful songs of the past decade reaching #1 in 41 countries). Give it some time, it'll debute at #3 and that's with barely any promo. I'll just estimate the way the single will go on the US charts :P 3 - 5 - 1/2 - 1/2 - 4 - 7 - decay But Madonna had always had trouble matching her previous success in the USA ever since ameican life"s backlash

Luc 4,775
But Madonna had always had trouble matching her previous success in the USA ever since ameican life"s backlash Perhaps BTW had some backlash too? Not as much as American Life but enough to make her much less bigger in the US.
ARTPOPSYCHOLOGY 6,270
yes you do, in the U.S if you pre order art pop applause is downloaded immediatly it says so in the email she sent It's true - I haven't gotten billed for Applause yet. However, I gifted Applause to three friends and also haven't got billed for that, so only time will tell.

toanythingtaboo 5
It's doing well, considering. Abstractly, you can say "She should be #1 everywhere, she's Lady Gaga!" but we all know that she took a hit in mass appeal with the last era. She's not coming off the back of TF/M with meat-dress infused hype, she's rebuilding herself and competing against a relentless smash and the new inevitable smash from America's Sweetheart coming off the back of her TF/M. Had she released next week alongside the video, the radio deals and all the promo that was in place, things would be different. As it happens, the BAM of a comeback was lost in a messy, premature scramble. We shouldn't overestimate the obliviousness of the GP, either. I had someone tweet yesterday that they'd just seen Gaga was brunette now. It's been, like, 9 months. Point is, most people need to be TOLD to buy something. If radio isn't doing it, promo of some sort has to be. A banner on iTunes only helps to people who are on the iTunes store.
Golgi 0
Down or up? Update: Applause is going down in Us, almost reaching 0.49. Blurred Lines is going to take its spot any day now. oh shut up sloth. You're not helping at all. Just request the song in your country instead of creating this drama of yours in Gagadaily. Why are you so ****ed up about Applause not going #1 in US? If you're a Gaga fan, you should have been used to this kind of thing ever since Paparazzi. US is NOT the world. I wasn't even raging about Applause not being #1 in the US and that it's a flop. Oh and btw, it's already #1 in my country.
