I don't see why more time if only a day is going to matter. If people want to buy it they will tomorrow or later in the week. No one is going to say oh the song isn't up on Itunes I'm definitely not buying it now.

That's true, but without the leak and the original plan going on the debut sales would've been bigger than what we'll get at the end of this week.

Yeah, Gags didn't give me time to get an iTunes card.

Now she'll suffer the consequences! :troll:

I wonder if Applause will be able to outdo Roar on the charts. It'll most likely sell more, but Katy will most likely have an advantage in radio, and they will be neck and neck in streaming. It sucks that Katy has like a 13 hour advantage over Gaga. I would really love to see them hit #1 and #2, and push BL down to #3.

I don't really care who ends out on top.  To me it isn't Gaga vs. Katy.  It's the Pop Girls vs. the one hit wonders.  I just want Blurred Lines to be pushed off.

Sorry but I fail to see how on earth Roar is anything but Basic. No doubt Applause is more a normal pop song than some of her previous work, but good grief, it's not basic.

To no one's surprise, Katy Perry's new single "Roar" is off to a roaring good start.

The song leaked prematurely to the Internet on Saturday, Aug. 10 -- two days before its planned premiere today (Aug. 12). In turn, with less than two full days of airplay, it debuts at No. 34 on the Nielsen BDS-based Pop Songs airplay chart this week. (The chart's tracking week ends at midnight, local time, on Sunday.)

The song bows on Pop Songs with 1,662 plays across 123 top 40 radio stations, according to Nielsen BDS. The track was supported in part by hourly play on participating Clear Channel Media and Entertainment-owned outlets on Saturday and Sunday. It's her 15th hit on the Pop Songs chart. Nine of her previous entries reached No. 1, a sum that's tied for second-best in the chart's 20-year history.

"Roar" also debuts at No. 38 on the Adult Pop Songs chart -- her 13th entry on that tally.
