Luke Bryan is not that far away at #4. Gaga will be #3 tonight. If she continues decreasing like this, she be at #4 tomorrow night or even sooner

In the heat of all this numerical warfare, I'm reminded of why I love Gaga in the first place. I never even cared or knew what a chart was until Bad Romance was cockblocked 4 years ago. Charts, awards, reviews, these are all second. The most important thing is the feeling we get from the music. Applause has made me dance like crazy these past few days, and it is very interesting from a production standpoint. Those synths in the chorus are spectacular.

I guess what I'm getting at is that, while the charts are fun, we can't let them rule our perception of Gaga (or music as a whole). ****tons of number one hits from the past are NEVER remembered today, but there are tons of lukewarm songs that we now consider highly influential.

tl;dr regardless of Gaga's chart performance (which is still way too early to project), we need to keep in mind what it means to be an artist.

4.9m increase in audience impressions is not a flop...

Didn't she only get like 3.8m yesterday?

She had 5.4m yesterday.

Sorry I was so angry because Gags is flopping (YES SHE IS NOT FLOPPING IN GENERAL BUT STILL IT IS A FLOP FOR HER) I just had to mess with someone

How mnany has BL sold?

He's around 275K, but his airplay is what is killing it. Someone on ATRL predicted Roar/Applause would need to sell over 625K to be #1.

Well JT had a ****ty lead-single which peaked at #3, after 6 years of absence from music. Look at his album sales :awkney:

If Selena, Demi and Miley's lead-singles perform better than Applause :dies:

Gaga is not Timberlake. Radio won't play her songs that much.

2. Lady Gaga - Applause 0.4628

American monsters should be ashamed.

I agree. Lets say 50k who bought the song are GP which means only 175k monsters bought it.

450K isnt that much tho. I'd expect more but she is slowing down.

Hopefully with the pre-orders Gaga can do 300K

If hes sold 275k and Gaga has sold less than that then why is he not #2 on the chart?

This is so confusing

"Gaga can go very far on the enthusiasm of her enormous cult audience – truly, second place ain’t bad – but this impromptu chart showdown is a sign that she may have completely lost her grasp on casual mainstream fans."

Gags really has to do something 'bout that.

idk but... everytime I listen to Applause it sounds so great and fresh and catchy and brilliant.

it's not even a hit yet but clearly sounds like one to me already. not saying it's comparable to Bad Romance because it isn't. but it's nearly the same vibe I felt back in October, 2009.

and that's keeping me out from having a meltdown, tbh.

I'm just praying she slays with that video and VMA promo.

He has sales from Monday. Applause went on sale Tuesday so he has an extra day over Gaga.
