That J 12,166
BTW is not even close to being an anthem lol Born This Way was/is an anthem to a lot of people. That's just factual because I know people who sing lyrics of it out of nowhere when they are having a bad or good day. Any song can be an anthem to someone. But, the Born This Way album as a whole is an anthem to some as well. Your reading words of someone who considers it his. :) Edited July 19, 2013 by MonsterJames333 The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw

Born This Way was/is an anthem to a lot of monsters* For the most part outside of this fanbase people haven't given a **** about it since January 2011 :) truth.....but I DO know some who aren't stans like us who sing pieces of it. But maybe that makes them monsters without realizing it. We should all team up and make a song called "Stans Like Us". Haha. ;) Edited July 19, 2013 by MonsterJames333 The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw
AnglerfishbraBENUS 5,733
I think the edge of glory is the only major anthem single from BTW. Marry the night is empowering but not anthemic. Same with born this way

Same with born this way TEOG is a fantastic song. While I didn't really "get" the lackluster video at first, I think she let the song itself speak for itself. Marry The Night however is what I call MY SONG! It is my anthem. I get it, I love it, I listen to it daily, it never gets old to me and it's also my favorite video of hers and pretty much my favorite video of all time. But that's just me. ;) The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw
dc1993 1
anthems don't become anthems after a year, they take time. Born this Way is the kind of song that will be featured in tv and movie (not to mention continue to get radio play) for years and years (and possibly decades) to come. an·them /ˈanTHÉ™m/ NounA rousing or uplifting song identified with a particular group, body, or cause. A song officially adopted by a country as an expression of national identity. Born This Way could be considered an anthem, and I'd say most people would agree that it is one. Glow 0
I've been waiting for you to a--lyze it honestly. you're a legend! But yeah, I think everything you said is spot on in the quote. "ARTPOP musically mirrors Gaga's creative process as she passes through the mediums of each artist she collaborates with, scoring a blueprint of her journey. The result, a "rage" of electronic passion and fury, defining each artistic process from beggining to end, ARTPOP could mean anything." To me this seems to signify that she has been collaborating with these artists throughout her creative process for ARTPOP. These songs could be tailor-made for the performance art/other kind of collaborations she has planned. It's an interesting way to go about making an album and if it's true, I wonder what kind of art is planned for the first single? Will it be a soundtrack for a bombastic performance art piece or not necessarily part of one of her collaborations? I kind of think I'm taking it too literally, but I'm not feeling creative enough to think through the nuances of her ARTPOP manifesto. Okay..maybe I am. Let's break it down. "the app itself is a musical and visual engineering system that combines music, art, fashion, and technology with a new interactive worldwide community  “the aurasâ€." I don't understand how nobody else is buzzing about this??? What are the auras?!!? It sounds to me like it's a new name for her fans, or more specifically, the participants in the app who will be contributing to this project with their art. via wikipedia: "an aura is a field of subtle, luminous radiation surrounding a person or object (like the halo or aureola in religious art). The depiction of such an aura often connotes a person of particular power or holiness." Maybe we are something like GaGa's aura. Afterall, she is the "icon" that we are all brought together by. We give her her significance, and as she sometimes says, we give her her creativity and religion as well. "Altering the human experience with social media, we bring ARTculture into POP in a reverse Warholian expedition." This was pretty well describe in the ARTPOP app discussion thread. In fact, all of the manifesto is a--lyzed very well there. But, with my limited knowledge of Warhol, I can say he brought pop culture into art by replicating popular images until they were brought out of context and became meaningless/something else. What if GaGa brings context and art to a meaningless pop culture? One way to do that is to transform pop into an interactive art community. Then you have literally created an art culture around a pop icon. "Exploring Gaga’s existence as a cultural interface, the user will share in the ‘adrenaline of fame’ as they build and share their own projects,..." Here we are seeing "interface" again. Along with her saying she is the "icon" we can really start to imagine how GaGa see's herself in this project. She is the interface through which our collective pop culture is filtered and disseminated to the masses. She is essentially a blank canvas without us, her auras. Which brings me to this interesting line: "On this day HAUS OF GAGA venges with forte to bring the music industry into a new age; an age where art drives pop, and the artist once again is in control of the ‘icon.’" I think this means that we are the artists. We are in control of her. In a more literal sense if she uses the fashion from littlemonsters and all of those other contests pan out, but we always have been. Her entire artistry is about fame. Even Born This Way was a result of her fame and the relationship between us and her. You could say this is also what "where art drives pop" is from. She sees her fans as very artistic, and we will be driving how she makes our art (into) pop. "In turn, the album ARTPOP musically mirrors Gaga’s creative process as she passes through the mediums of each artist she collaborates with, scoring a blueprint of her journey. The result, a “rage†of electronic passion and fury, defining each artistic process from beginning to end, ARTPOP could mean anything." Going with my theme here, Not only are her fans the artists, but actual professional, famous artists will be in control of our icon as she interprets their style into pop. I believe "ARTPOP could mean anything" simply means that it is a broader movement for all types of art and expression. It is about how we interact with icons and how pop culture can be a form of art itself. To conclude, I want to throw in that the ARTPOP promo pic is very telling. Her hair is light brown, her makeup is minimal, and she is wearing a face mask. She is a blank canvas getting prepared for the onslaught of ART that she is about to filter through her own artistry into POP. Basically, I'm excited. Nailed it. jsn 1,644
What if Gaga still does videos for all the tracks (she may have changed her mind) and she makes it into a sort of story, like how Marina has done with Electra Heart? She did say that the album would feel like a cohesive piece, so I think maybe it could be done. Edited July 19, 2013 by Nocchi
