of course. people like to deny and diminish the impact Gaga had on the pop world. she was a leader, and she had many followers.

This thread is going to have the delusional stans that think she influenced everything and the delusional stans that try so hard not to kiss her ass that they end up acting like shes irrelevant.

What Gaga influenced for the new gen pop stars imo was excessively stylized costumes and personas. Thats not the same as saying she single handedly created an excessive style of persona or whatever tired argument haters try to pull when anyone gives Gaga any sort of credit for anything remotely impactful. Admitting it is also not the same as saying they copy her. Gaga was a phenomenon and thus things get thrown out into space and other people can reinterpret and do **** their own way and obviously for Katy it worked out for her as well.

Does anyone else remember that when Christina Aguilera came out with "Keeps Gettin' Better" (the single), her use of the blunt bangs with straight long blonde hair was compared to Lady Gaga? This was Fame Lady Gaga, so her outfits hadn't even reached their peak weirdness. And Aguilera said "I don't know who this Lady Gaga is. They could be a man, for all I know."  :flop:

This was actually the first time I heard of Lady Gaga, so thanks, Aguilera~

Chuckles

Miley though? It was for a video since that's was the concept. It's not like she goes out in public like that :miley:

Thank you. Miley always wears something vintage.

I can't say the same for the others, specially Nicki.

I feel like not enough credit is given to Gaga for this though. I never see anyone acknowledge that Gaga started these trends, or even anything relating to others copying her. :crossed:

Gaga, Ke$ha, and Ava

I don't think they copied Gaga directly, I just feel like Gaga made it easier for them to wear weirder stuff. Less "GAGA'S DOING IT I GOTTA DO IT LET'S GO TO THE BEACH-EACH" and more "oh cool, Gaga wore something weird, it means it's okay for me to wear x and y without getting mauled on!" At least I hope so.

3 points in and ready for more
