Cavadour 2,754
My Gaga epiphany. I can't figure out it was already 10 years ago Late to the party but I got a diamond heart
KevinWright 1,759
It’s a nice album and for me it aged well. I still listen to Diamond Heart, Million Reasons and Dancing In Circles. It was the right move for Gaga’s carrer. After the mess of the ARTPOP era she needed something to “clean” her image. Without Joanne the ASIS Soundtrack wouldn’t been a hit. It paved the way for hits like Shallow and ARUTW. Thank you Joanne ❤️
KevinWright 1,759
And also after Joanne many artists tried something similar. It was an infuencial album, the so-called “Joanne effect”. Justin Timberlake realesed Man of the Woods, Kesha released Rainbow and Miley her Younger Now album. Even THE Kylie Minogue released a stripped down album, Golden.

Looking back Million Reasons would have fit the image of Joanne better as the lead. if it were the first single it would have a better MV and radio deal at release so she would not have struggled to get a hit. Ironically Perfect Illusion was the big pop-rock song fans were screaming out for after Chromatica. Million Reasons only did well because of how Hello changed the landscape and made ballads HUGE again. Nobody back then opened with a ballad, typically a ballad was your last single when you’re about to tour to pull in the older generation. Perfect Illusion was the ONLY single worthy song at the time. And that’s ok.
gagzus 27,409
Remember when EVERYONE suddenly started doing “stripped back” music and imagery after Joanne came out? With country and Americana tinged music. 2
