I think she's a both sides kind of girl, I mean, she's not supporting Israel's actions, or siding with Israel in the conflict, but she's not boycotting Israel or willing to make statements and such, like the moment the war will end, she won't see a problem to visit Israel for business or pleasure. but at the same time, it's not like she's hating on Palestine or thinks they don't deserve freedom, but she'll not go "free palestine" or say "genocide"..

Gaga is dem, but she never been left, or progressive, she's centric-left, her fight has always been for LGBTQ+ rights, against racism here and there, and immigration when it's time to use Americano for time to time.

The fans created the idea that she's like the leader of the far left, the progressives, but she's not..

well yes, that's what i said

she most likely just wants peace but if she puts out a statement saying that, she's gunna get dragged left and right

mother, what must i do?

I genuinely don't know what people think her opinion would achieve in this conflict. Yes, she has a big platform, but she's still 'just' a popstar that has no meaningful ties or knowledge regarding this subject. A popstar. If anything it would just be fuel to the fire.

She is not limted to just speaking up...her net worth is 400 million, Michael's is 600 million. She could do what other celebrities did over the past days and match Macklemore's donation of 1 million dollars. That would be more than just throwing out some nice words.

Also, she just had a world tour.

And unlike some celebrities who still actively use their platform - she's stopped fundraising at tour dates.
Sam Fender had MSF & local foodbanks collecting at every show he did last year.
Taylor Swift (for PR) donated millions to local foodbanks at most tour stops.

You don't need to stand on stage, wave a flag and give the same "lets pray for peace" speach for 80 shows. But there are practical ways to use wealth and platform.

Everyone on here and socials arguing about Gaga speaking up is ****ing ridiculous. If you have enough effort, energy, and time to post and complain about what she should or shouldn’t be doing, go scream at someone whose opinions and actions can actually change things because that’s not her. It’s the politicians and leaders of government.

She has been a relentless advocate for social and cultural change in the US regarding LGBT rights, immigration, and racism since day one. Those issues can be affected by speaking up and representing the marginalized. This issue isn’t social. It’s life or death in an unnecessary war and genocide started and propagated by a country who just wants the land for greed and hatred of the people living there. They aren’t even the only ones. Other countries and groups of people are committing the same horrors around the world and the only people who can officially change it is elected officials in the governments involved.

There's no avoiding this at this point and anyone who thinks the silence won't be noticed is deluding themselves.

That is doubly true for celebrities who otherwise have been known to be politically outspoken. It will be very hard to speak out for anything going forward without people asking what they haven't spoken out for.

Hate to say this but I've already seen her being called a Zionist in spaces that I frequent that used to love her. I've tried to defend her but frankly "she's never spoken in support of Israel" isn't a very effective defense.

They love pinkwashing on this issue alone like be for real that damn place is not friendly to same-sex couples in all facets. Like they'll claim the entire country is welcoming when in reality, Tel Aviv is just one city that doesn't count.

It's also like...say every Palestinian is a raging bigot and hates all things queer.

That means we should just look the other way when tens of thousands of kids and innocent people are killed, tortured, and millions are displaced? :awkney:

It must be unbearable to be famous and have to take a stand on everything. Come on, we all know where Gaga stands. There are far better ways to help with the issue than just tossing out a cheap soundbite during a concert. Everything is political, but a lot of what I see is artists just saying a line during a show—how does that actually help? It doesn't; it only helps with audience relatability and their public image.

Also, have you guys ever considered the possibility of Gaga actually being pro-Israel?

Gaga grew up on the Upper West Side, which is the most Jewish neighborhood in Manhattan along with the Upper East Side, with a lot of Israeli friends, listening to Israeli music and going to Israeli restaurants.

I’m sure she’s sad about the situation in Gaza,  but I do believe she has a positive view of Israel.

do you think there is any excuse for Gaga’s silence?

Yes… she’s just had a baby and has new things to worry about. I don’t blame her for staying quiet rn. Getting political can be very dangerous and keeping her baby safe should be her top priority

If this is about the Lightspeed thing it’s already been proven it’s an American company that has a division in Israel, something being in Israel doesn’t mean it’s funded by the IDF nor the government—which is where the problems are.

And until she says anything negative about Palestinians, is directly funded by the IDF or the Israeli government—I’m personally not going to judge her.

We should be pressuring government officials and world leaders the way some people on here pressure celebrities whose opinions are entirely inconsequential—Gaga’a included. Moral police the literal leaders not the cattle.

Exactly, the whole thing has turned into a witch hunt where every little detail is turned against her and everything else is ignored. And that whole thing is now spread everywhere by Gaga haters and enchanced with AI stuff... Combine that with the amount of people that lack critical thinking and believe everything they see/read online. :madge:
