Like gravity on Earth - when you throw a ball in the air, it's going to come back down because of gravity (unless it's filled with helium, which because of its chemical composition, which is observable, it will continue to float). Human procreation is observed by the sexual union of a man and a woman after which the baby is carried in the mother's uterus. It's the artificial intervention in the creation of new human life that makes surrogacy different than an organ transplant or a miscarriage. Implanting a donated heart or lung in a patient is a different goal post than a zygote that has capacity to become a full human person. Miscarriage is biological reality that happens when the body rejects the zygote - the difference there is there's no artificial intervention that causes the baby to be lost (outside of certain cases). I see... but natural law, as you said, are "observations". These can be defied just like how we intervene with sickness, infections, natural calamity, etc. It doesn't carry any inherent moral obligation. We built airplane to defy gravity afterall. Agree with the distinction you are making, but nothing changes the fact that conception via artificial or natural, only the strongest zygote gets to "implant" on the womb. And the argument about Zygote can be applied to sperm and egg cells as well. By your definition, it'll be abhorrent to mast*rbate or conduct an*l s*x since these are "not natural". Which is of course, not true since these cells are simply biological components and do not possess sentience or personhood.

Applying bioethics, especially in advances in medical technology affecting humans, is where my "just because we can, doesn't mean we should" statement. The hard pill to swallow comes in the form of accepting that we can't always get what we want even if it's possible. That's where science can progress in areas that can be a violation of natural laws (in this case, the natural law that children are created by the sexual union of a man and a woman). There's also the matter that in many cases, it's not just a single fertilized egg, but many which are evaluated for which is the "most viable" and the rest are discarded. There's an argument to be made that it violates the human dignity of those other zygotes. The means matter, not just the end result. Not everyone gets to have a child of their own flesh and blood. That's always been the case in human history, and I will agree that it's a sad and unfortunate reality. That's why I mentioned adoption being an option. An adopted child is no less a parent's child than their biological children. You might have picked the wrong site with the wrong moderation for this argument. My IVF twins are sleeping soundly right now and I will forever advocate for reproductive rights of any kind. And embryos aren’t life. Discarding something that isn’t viable as a life isn’t murder. I still have 8 embryos left and just may discard them. And if that’s what I want to do, they’re mine to do that. I spent 6 years getting my miracle babies and am forever grateful that we do use the technology we have to create babies. she/her/hers 5 1 19

When you adopt, that is your child. Also not sure why you’d specify Michael in this? Helxig 45,648
But on topic, I'm so surprised she was able to hide it from the world. She kept it QUIET. Which tbh I think completely makes sense for Gaga. I imagine she will share the news officially in a post at some point when she is ready She must have had a surrogate though, right? Which I'm also surprised by. She's been obsessed with motherhood and pregnancy for a long time (half the BTW era she was fake pregnant, rolling around in birthing goo, and making pregnancy metaphors for her music). But maybe because of her age she wanted to be as safe as possible. And the fibromyalgia could've been a factor too Either way I'm very happy for her! Now seems like just the right time for her And now I'm going to do what her fans do about her albums.. now that this one is out, I wonder if there will be a next one she's always spoken of having lots of children, so I wonder if she's changed her mind, or if she will have another one shortly to have close-age-siblings Edited Saturday at 05:51 AM by Helxig I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Not gonna derail this thread into a debate about it, but its what I believe in. Congrats to Gaga and Michael anyways! This. Im from Mexico and here we think the same. You guys seems to have a lot of privilage. Of course theres nothing wrong to have a baby or sorrugate, but if u see that theres a lot of children in the orphan or the streets.. the choose start to feel like a privilage. time, the ultimate truth teller
