Economy 52,997
https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/canada-gdp-june-2026-9.7323847 Canadas economic growth reboubded strongly in Q2 of 2026 to annualized growth of 3.3%. Q1 was also revised up slightly meaning Canada actually avoided technical recession from Q4 of 2025 to Q1 of 2026 despite heavy criticism from the Conservatives before the final data was out Job growth has also rebounded strongly and unemployment has been falling from the peak. Despite trade concerns so far foreign investment into Canada has increased since Mark Carney took over. Major fast tracked mega projects are also expected to yield tens of billions in GDP in the years to come 1
SavetheEarthNow 197
Crap like this is extremely misleading. Economic growth does not determine how well a country's people are doing. Economies can grow for many different reasons, most of them aren't positive. Such as inflation, inflation is higher, we're paying more for things, so obviously various sectors are making more money which contributes to economic growth. We're having to spend record amounts on things like food and energy, obviously all the tax we pay on these items that goes to the federal government, increases federal revenue, this contributing to economic growth. We're paying more and getting poorer, good for economic growth, bad for Canadians. People these days need to learn to stop buying into the strong economy stuff equating to meaning people are thriving. A former leader of a provincial NDP party spent a lot of time pointing this fact out and trying to educate Canadians about quality of life of Canadians not being determined by economic growth. Under Carney, inflation has increased at a rapid rate, taxes have increased, energy prices have increased due to the conflict in middle east and Trumps war with Iran, we pay more for everything, of course there's going to be economic growth and GDP growth because we're paying more for things. Majority of jobs are also not going to Canadians, they're going to temporary foreign workers. Fast tracking "mega projects" will also not do anything for the future of the economy, these projects are just a momentary bandaid, an impulsive response to Trumps 💩. One "mega project", tackily deemed "nation building" (🙄) planned is an oil pipeline, this is an impulsive project that will cost billions and by the time it's complete and operational, mid 2030s, the world will have shifted immensely away from fossil fuels and the need for such a pipeline won't exist, just like in the US currently, in the past decade they built a whole bunch of pipelines, that are sitting unused or underused because supply for oil is down. The oil industry itself has talked about oil need peaking before 2030 and then dropping. None of these things are actually benefiting Canadians in any way. We need to bring back Justin Trudeau or at least someone with similar ideas about focusing on climate action and investment in green energy projects and incentivizing companies and industry into decreasing their carbon and methane emissions, it is renewable energy projects that will benefit the Canadian economy for years to come and lower costs of food, energy and housing. How is it misleading? I states the positive metrics that came out. I dont remember saying suddenly everyone is living in prosperity because of the 1 good quarter of GDP This doesnt stop being encouraging at this time given the business panic that could have ensued

Sorry but i disagree with a lot here. First of all inflation has nothing to do with Carney, these are a global forces that would have happened either way under your beloved Trudeau Secondly you make it sound like green investments are somehow stopping or something. Canada has some pretty major zero emission eletric power projects going on especially in the Eastern half of the Country As for the fossil fuels, again i have reservations here. Regarding oil, these pipelines help lower differentials which is exactly what wed need even if oil does crash after 2030s. If ur right, not building them would make the pricing situation even worse Secondly, this is mostly private sector money provided the government doesnt get in the way and have to pull another buying pipeline stunt. If they miscalculate, at least with get some income during the innitial phases And lastly major projects abd resources goes beyond oil and getting better pricing. Much of the big projects going on in resources is either natural gas (which likely has more staying power), and metals and critical minerals which btw are needed for the modern economy, some of them for electrification and green economy U love to say everything is misleading, i now point that back at you cuz your making it sound like like Carneys big build and mega projects is all about Oil. Oil is merely a part of it, theres so much more going on than that Trudeau had nearly a decade. We got anemic economic growth, flat wages, productivity lagging other nations, failing business investment etc. Sorry, I dont want another PM like him just because on the Environment he was a bit better than Carney (and not that Carney is awful like anyway just not on Trudeaus level)
