It's not about them trying to "adult" it's more about immature people not really knowing how the world works and being thrown into tricky situations. If you do give it a chance just keep in mind that episode 1 is quite weak, as is the case with many shows. Don't let that discourage you. Stick with it or just feel free to start from episode 2.
