Ugly nipple earrings , who would want to wear those????

The way those earrings outsell any of MK & A’s “contributions” to fashion :air:

Ironically, this is lowkey historically accurate. Both Persia and Greece were invading and looting each other for centuries.

It’s a bit tasteless but also quite fascinating showing how our relationship with these things change or remain over time. It’s naive to try put every artefact in its exact origin when part of the items biography is how it’s rediscovered and travels.

I’d like it to go back to Iran with the owners’ good will and consent. But realistically, Iran’s clerics are generally against surfacing these artefacts, they literally feature a God on them. The regime carefully weaponizes and censors its history.

It would be nice if these could be returned to Iran. But the regime isn’t and the discs are actually being looked after and inadvertently raising awareness.

Maybe a return one day, but until Iran has a government that truly values its own secular history and people, these artifacts are arguably safer where they are.

Oh she’s gonna be mad when she finds out the American actress got pounded down by her British husband after wearing those things.

To sell these artifacts of human history as jewelry for the elite is gross.

Purchasing this as jewelry as a stylist makes you gross and tasteless.

Wearing this as jewelry to be fashionable without questioning the heritage makes you part of the problem of the elite and their narcicism over everything else in this world.

I'm very upset that Zendaya and Law Roach did this, as People of Colour they should know better than fetishizing culture.

This is not about "loggin off" or "gettin a life", this is western capitalism & greed in it's purest form destroying history and culture.

I mean, they also flew a dress to her on a private jet to wear for a couple hours…

Very expected from Law. Zendaya’s also a big girl now and can take some responsibility for ham-fisted choices made by her stylist.

Also I just don’t really like Zendaya so I’m happy for people to dog pile :stalkga:

Your hatred for her brought you here. It’s not an also, it’s the main reason.

Is any of this even corroborated if even she says that she's unsure? This jeweler could be a preservationist, collector, historian, etc.? Totally fair to think that people shouldn't be wearing clothing or jewelry that old, but to make overblown claims about how this is all a capitalist, racist, colonial flex feels excessive and not genuine

Ima add a fun fact to this not knowing if it is relevant to these specific discs:

Not every "ancient relic" is rare and priceless. There are coins and pieces from ancient Egypt as well as fossils that they bring out for children to pass around between eachother during school museum tours.

Maybe they are, but chances are high that if a random jeweler can get ahold of something without the government knocking on their door? They are objects that are already well recorded and preserved.
