Not to mention the importance these words still hold in today's backwards world. Only the 'orient' part really didn't age all too well, but that's just part of societal changes. The orient incorporation is the one that skewed BTW a bit for me … but I didn‘t know the etymological background until I was like 10 or 11 … so, before that I thought it was neutral/formal … sometimes we only know what we know when we know it … solid insights though, I appreciate your perspective

Bad Romance. Just Dance has way too little votes tho! The way she’s put „Roses” „thorns” and „hosed” in a verse without making it rhyme in a typical way, yet sounding very smooth and cohesive. v pleasing to my ears I think I‘m going to vote for Just Dance … I usually wait to see who the underdog is and go from there … Just Dance and Perfect Illusion both fit the bill, but that debut 1

As always, an excellent read and a great discussion 🙏 Edited Friday at 02:56 PM by Ladle Ghoulash We have forgotten our public MANNERS 1
TheMontebello 1,102
I'm going for Bad Romance because I think the lyrics match the grandness of the song. "I want your love and I want your revenge" just feels POWERFUL somehow. But I almost voted BTW for all that it stands for and "Don't be a drag just be a queen" is so fun. JohnnyVersace 9,262
tbh I would have said BR, but I think the bridge in BTW is really unique, and the lyrics really shifted the cultural needle. This song is still played during Pride and beyond (BR obv is still mega huge as well). 2
Controversiaga 15,827
It’s BTW and Bad Romance. Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”
ActualPatient 2,509
Lyrically: BR > BTW > Just Dance > Disease > Perfect Illusion > Applause > Stupid Love BTW is probably the most socially-important though If symptom persists, consult your doctor. 1

Sepsami 20,805
Bad Romance but Applause is aging like fine wine and the hets seem to really love her. She needs to permanently add it to her tour catalogue
Lord Mayhem 3,393
Lyrically...obviously BTW...no other lead single (even Bad Romance) saved more lives and had more of a cultural impact by its message than this song.
