Hm. I don’t like how the genres no longer align with their respective subject anymore with her being inserted between Fashion and Film. It was a much stronger photo without her.

Charli chose the shade of green and decided on the album cover, the 365 party girl image was pushed by people after an interviewer pressed her for what brat means and she leaned into it. Her marketing wasn’t down to the company it originated from her, if that was the case then Confessions 2 would be a massively viral piece in the zeitgeist beyond gays. And it isn’t. So there’s your answer diva.

also the color was decided by a team of people after testing 65 shades of green. Also, note the specific use of a very specific font, and the specific violet and red used in all C2 marketing.

This era really isn’t for me, Brat was cute for a moment and propelled Charli into mainstream media but I haven’t been obsessed with her releases since Crash.

Chains of Love piqued my interest but hearing all the drama about demos from other artists being rehashed really put me off listening to the rest of the Wuthering Heights soundtrack (as well as the film being rightly criticised for whitewashing).

Then you’ve got these latest bunch of lack luster short arse songs that play out like spoken word but aren’t that lyrically interesting or engaging enough to be enjoyable. I understand a want to get away from the electronic music of the past decade. But it’s coming off as so low effort and uninspired.

The variant tactics might not work this time round, the singles haven’t impacted the top 30 in the U.K. so I expect this era to come and go and act as a reset. Hopefully she resets her wider image too and stops attending problematic events like the Met Gala and supporting problematic companies like YSL.

Agreed. She kinda looks photoshopped in, not in a campy way either. Just feels off.

Damn all this pressure on her, this era won’t be successful, nothing is picking up

if I was her I’d do it like Miley, after Bangerz, just drop it independently on the internet and move on, if something sticks it then promote it if not just create space from the last era to release pressure for the next one

pop is really hard nowadays, I always saw 2013 like the collapse of pop schemes, and year after year with each new pop star coming if she’s successful the anticipation for a bigger era gets so much difficult by people’s attention span getting shorter, things don’t surprise anymore, vitality gets shorter, mainstream culture disappears its divided in countless niches that almost nothing is mainstream anymore
