There’s so many instances of Gaga taking the concept of a song way more sincerely… I think the song tries to sound more clever than it is and I think, while being a song that functions as a middle finger to the haters, it does a pretty bad job of addressing any legitimate critiques of her and instead resorts to knocking down self-serving strawmen (“You hate me because I’m too smart and too artsy”). Like c’mon, sister. Especially on an album with songs like Aura and DWUW which I think take on the audience in a far more daring and confrontational.
