My town is a small, relatively deprived post-industrial town in the South West, and despite having a small but still sizeable Reform vote, I will say, things are surprisingly accepting here, probably because we're ultimately a Liberal Democrat/Conservative marginal. The next town over, however, is exactly the same as how you describe Darlington, and leans heavily Reform. It really varies from area to area. London is great, but don't count out other towns in the south, especially the South West. Bristol, as my local city, is really amazing. Cardiff is too.
