Ateez debuts at #1 on BB200 with 5k streaming units

ATEEZ captures its third No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart as GOLDEN HOUR : Part.5 arrives atop the tally (dated July 11). The group previously hit No. 1 with GOLDEN HOUR : Part.2 in 2024 and THE WORLD EP.FIN : WILL in 2023. 

The new set launches with 228,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending July 3, largely driven by pure album sales (223,000). Both figures represent career-highs for the act.

Of GOLDEN HOUR : Part.5’s 228,000 first-week equivalent album units, album sales comprise 223,000 (it debuts at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart), SEA units comprise 5,000 (equaling 4.96 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs) and TEA units comprise a negligible sum.

GOLDEN HOUR : Part.5’s album sales were aided by its availability across 30 CD variants and five vinyl variants (all containing collectible items such as photocards, posters and stickers, with some items randomized), including signed editions.

The way people who haven’t decided to expand their music habits to include certain international artists are dismissing them, as if their personal unfamiliarity is the standard by which something is trash or irrelevant. There are other fan bases out there who like music you may not and that doesn’t mean it’s tragic or their success is automatically “payola”. Artists are able to succeed that you aren’t personally a fan of.

Although Kpop deserves its own fair share of criticism, these threads are such a breeding ground for racism. Every time Teletubby makes these threads, it’s like inviting people to just **** on other cultures. 

There are things that we criticize, and there are things that have nothing to do with it. But because it’s a different culture that doesn’t exactly fit the white masculinity ideal, it’s automatically 💩. 

I’m not saying don’t make these threads, but at least remind people to tone down their racist views a bit.

I didn’t want to jump to the “R” word but I was definitely thinking it. The immediate dismissal of any K-pop band, with the expectation that everyone will mock and pile-on simply because of the assumption that NO ONE here has heard of them, and the very idea that they debuted on top is somehow ludicrous even if they have never heard them, there’s no real explanation other than racism. They aren’t “one of us” how dare they top “our chart”
