Abracadabra vs Marry The Night

Abracadabra is probably the only song released after 2011 that would have a chance to compete with Marry The Night on this site!

Okay, this is one of the rare times where Abra deserves to lose. I know it won’t, though. Only Bad Romance can lose against Abra on here.

Marry The Night is so underrated it hurts. Everything about it is phenomenal. Plus it has two amazing bridges and the best outro in pop music history.  AND it has better live performances.

But it’s cute cause both songs have a very similar message. But Marry The Night’s deeper, more existential.

“Dance or die” >>> “death or love”

MTN has a better chance than almost any other song would up against Abracadabra.

It may have been underrated as a single, but it’s well beloved as a fan favorite.

I’ve seen maaaaaaaaany fans say MTN is overrated. So many that clearly, the song isn’t as popular in the fanbase as it used to be or deserves to be.

Clearly, it stands no chance in this poll.

I stand by my words: only Bad Romance can win against Abra on this site.

I know, I’m just saying “death or love” is sh!t compared to “dance or die”, it makes the song more shallow than it could have been cause girl, who cares that much about love  Unless you’re 13

Also, Abra’s cage dress is amazing but the performance itself doesn’t have much to offer + nearly all the performances were essentially same (except for 2-3 piano performances). Plus Gaga deserves JAIL for that drumless first verse in every performance, OH MY GOD. It sounds BAD and kills the vibe.

But love would basically be synonymous with life by being framed as the opposite of death in that lyric and, imo, based on the way its framed in the MV and TAOPC, I don’t think she’s referring to romantic love as much as she’s referring to love in a broader universal sense (connection with and integration within yourself, the ability to outwardly express yourself to and connect yourself with the world) .

Also: “nothing to offer” when the staging (even beyond the cage dress) is fantastic, the choreo is great, the costumes are iconic…I love MTN down, but I can’t think of a single MTN performance that feels as iconic as that performance of Abra. I also honestly think even the REQUIEM + Grammys performances are better than most MTN performances and the acoustic version she did on Howard Stern is better than the piano versions of MTN she’s done, tbh.

Eh, I think the suspension as a way of building tension is honestly epic and makes the beat drop on the chorus way more satisfying in a live setting.

You may be correct, but Abracadabra still does not have the usual landslide she normally does! Sometimes it’s like 97%. MTN is doing really well for a song against Debra. 
 

You’re right about Bad Romance (although I voted Abracadabra that time too) being the only one that could beat her.

Fair, I’m usually not particularly into pop performances that are essentially made to be seen rather than heard, unless what is seen is the performer’s soul, and I don’t think her Abra outfits allow us to actually see it + her vocals are quite hidden behind the backing track. Funnily, you can actually her her voice in the verses but I hate what the did to the instrumental… I find that “tension thing” very frustrating  

Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy those performances, but not nearly as much as MTN’s where you can fully hear her voice and see her dance/feel. My favorite part out of all of Abra’s performances is “BRAZIL, LET’S GO” cause that’s when I actually felt her soul burning in my veins, that’s the moment where her energy wasn’t hidden by the dress because it went straight to her face lmao
