Poor Madonna getting only 2 songs on Top 200 Global Spotify, all Ive seen is people liking the album so i dont get how it doesnt translate into streams?

Both OUT of the top 200 now. People liking the album is the buble of twitter, unfortunately I don't think the GP is aware about this new album/new era.

Let's see what happens next!

I have to confess I was not much hyped for this, since I rarely listen to her music. But today I thought- why not? Let me play the album while I do some stuff around the house.

Have to say I’m positively impressed- it’s good!

Slightly OT, but: it genuinely pains me that Madonna’s follow up to the OG COADF was almost a collab record with Pet Shop Boys and Stuart Price. Would’ve been a generational pop record, tbh. But grateful for CONFESSIONS II

Man I wish she did that instead of HC, the only songs I like from HC are 4 minutes, Miles Away and Devil Wouldn't Recognize You so I would keep those but Pharrell was an awful choice and it was obvious she was chasing trends with that album at the time.

I think the GP is aware, but the older GP and they aren't a powerful listener group in the streaming world.

Currently obsessed with My Sins Are My Savior, Betrayal, The Test and L.E.S Girl, amazing track run:legend: also the fact that L.E.S Girl is like a mix between ROL (the song) and Kokomo by The Beach Boys (2 songs I like) just omg.

Really into first 5 songs' run (beside Bring Your Love.)

Kinda lost some interest with RML and Everything, don't really care for them.

I think Love Sensation is my favourite song on the album, follow up with LWW that grow on me a bit.

Overall, 6-7/10 I think, it's okay.

I really love the first 5 tracks run, especially One Step Away -> Bring Your Love -> Danceteria with the transitions. Read My Lips has grown on me too but feels a bit too long but works great on the album. Everything is just the weakest part so far to me then it picks up again with Love Sensation, Love Without Words and Bizarre only for me to lose it again with School, it's just not growing on me. :air: Then Fragile, My Sins and Betrayal work so well to end the album.

Maybe with time I'll like them but so far I feel like they go on for so long I just want to skip them after 1 minute.

This would be my perfect standard edition:

1. I Feel So Free
2. Good For The Soul
3. One Step Away
4. Bring Your Love
5. Danceteria
6. Read My Lips
7. Love Sensation
8. Love Without Words
9. Bizarre
10. Fragile
11. My Sins Are My Savior
12. Betrayal

See I'd drop One Step Away and bring L.E.S Girl in as the finisher.
Ending it on that fade out of "Everything fades away" is just beautiful and fits the theme of the album being the dancefloor healing trauma and providing an escape.

I think the issue was how long spotify let labels effectively buy playlist spots and artificially create success.

As labels pull back from it we're seeing the curtain being pulled back on the entire scheme.

Even though physical sales have gone down across the board generally, they're still the best indication of what's genuinely got a fanbase. Streams have never been real.

You re totally right. Streaming will never show the real love for the song or for the record. Creating an account on spotify its just the occasion for labels to bomb You with heavy  algorithms, pallette of tricks, commercials and playlisting  strategy. and yet, they stumbled on it. You need to really buy something, spend some amount of money to value the music You love, to show You actually really care about the one. every other methods are just marketing tricks. Labels using streaming just murdered the real freedom and potential the more open channel of distrubution shown at the beginning. maybe we are on a verge of change. somehow it has to change.

Lower East Side Girl is beautiful too and a great way to end the album, just feel like it’s placed really well there as the end to the deluxe version, couldn’t have been part of the standard unless it takes Everything’s place as that “middle” part of the album to have a slower tempo for a bit. Kind of like how LoveDrug, How Bad and Don’t Call Tonight are placed to balance the adrenaline.

Madonna is 67 years old and started her career decades before the streaming era and I expect her to do big physical sales. Her debut spotify stats for the new album are already the highest in history for an 80s female soloist. Kinda ridiculous to be talking about hits or numbers when an artist is her age.

I knew you'd like the latter half of the album eventually.

smart cookie ;)

@Ladle Ghoulash@Broncomy biggest 'complaint' is the "continuous mix" feels a lot more gimmicky and less organic and smooth/purposeful than in confessions 1. in confessions 1 i remember tracks like jump and forbidden love sharing a bassline for like a full minute. here they mainly just did a lil transition between tracks (and sometimes, barely even that), and called it 'continuous', which i think is a bit of a shame

Honestly, it doesn't even feel mixed for the most part. Only a few songs have a genuine transition like My Sins into Betrayal.
The continuous mix is the most disappointing part for me personally, need to give my vinyl a spin with the 12 track mix see if its better.
