North West just celebrated her 13th birthday, and she's at the center of an internet conversation because of a recent  Paris Fashion Week appearance that has reignited a longstanding debate about children growing up in the spotlight.

A viral social media clip showing the 13-year-old posing for photos and interacting with adults at a high-profile event prompted thousands of comments from viewers questioning whether someone her age should already be navigating celebrity culture.

Others questioned whether children should be attending adult-oriented celebrity events at all, with one viewer commenting, "She's too young for this type of exposure."

Some comments also questioned whether famous children should have a visibly present parent or trusted adult during public appearances, while others expressed concern about North posing for photos with adult celebrities. x

I mean, both of her parents are egotistical narcissists who only care about fame and attention. I never expected either of them to be present, active, or generally good parents

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I think it's disgusting, just goes to show you can be abandoned by a parent even if they're a presence in your life. That family is insane

She's so overexposed and she's just a child being pushed into the deep end of adult Hollywood.

I feel bad that my first thought was "poor thing looks like her dad" :rip:

Yeah, this is a recipe for the next generation of malignant, maladjusted narcissistic but also traumatized adults :rip:

Yes you gotta work on deconditioning your brain from judging everyone's appearance on sight. It's hard because it's so trained into us our whole lives but it's important to try

On the topic of irresponsible parents.. Hollywood nepo babies start their careers as models so this is probably Kris Jenner’s idea.

Didn’t Kim literally get ROBBED and tied up at gun point in her hotel during Paris fashion week 10 years ago? I’m surprised she let her go here at all without a billion body guards present.

She was such an adorable kid but I'm not surprised shes been overexposed and underprotected. Look at the parents.

They dressed her like she was 24 when she was 4... kinda gross.

Not entirely the same and don't want to sound sympathetic for her here- but I grew up in an incredibly affluent area where many people I went to school with had parents who were around but hardly ever seen because they were busy working/socializing and essentially had kids as accessories (I can only somewhat relate to this because I had incredibly loving parents who made an effort, unfortunately just incredibly busy and hardly around when I was younger). With enough money, there are staffs of people you basically make sure your kid is "taken care of"/the basic requirements to keep a kid alive and in school are taken, and you can pop in and see them whenever you want.

This turns kids into monsters, especially when they reach North's age and develop an actual understanding of where they fall on a socioeconomic status, and its worse when they know the parents will let them get away with doing anything outrageous. I barely pay attention to her except for clips I've seen of her attitude and the idea I get she basically is mean as f*ck to Kim about getting to be herself because "where were you when I was growing up?"

It is absolutely disgusting and a likely result of a child trying to get attention from their parents, while also diving into the adult world at a young age because they reach an age where they recognize they have no proper childhood and try to grow up faster.

Sharing this based off my observations and experiences with people who grew up rich and had absent parents

I tend to forget she is so young. You shouldn't be alone in another country at 13 lmao. I feel like she is absolutely spoiled and her parents just let her do whatever she wants. She probably never heard a single "No." in her life
