And yet artists like Benson Boone, Sombr or Alex Warren are out on arena tours after really being in the public's eye for like maybe two years only and having one big hit each, while nothing after that makes much noise.

Imagine Gaga or Katy going straight to arenas for their The Fame Ball or Hello Katy tours. They definitely were known wider und had more hits at this point of their careers compared to the artists in this thread

Totally different industry now tbh.

Streaming killed the charts so they no longer accurately represent popularity. 

And, tours are way more culturally relevant than they've ever been tbh.

I saw Robyn last night, the majority of the audience didn't know a single new album track.

I'm totally aware the industry has changed, but not for the good in most ways.

It still doesn't add up to me how they can sell massive arena tours (like 30, 40 dates) that have like 10k tickets a night, but the numbers for streaming and sales are low. Isn't there a certain percentage of people who should stream the music consistantly which should somehow translate to the charts? 

In case of Lizzo we have seen how fast lived such a career high can be. From a nearly No. 1 album and an extended arena tour to selling less than 1k of your new album in its second week.

Other question: how was Robyn? I'm still thinking about getting tickets for her Berlin show

I mean, you have to realise that the GP's streaming behaviour isnt based on consistency or loyalty. 

They are passive listeners and their streams go towards whoever pays enough to be kept on the good playlists. 

Tours do well now because they're supplanting nightlife as a social event. So they've effectively become independent from chart stats as a result.

Lizzo is a bit of a unique case. 

Firstly, she was a fad. 

Secondly she was a fad who pissed people off.

And finally, she changed up her style from adult contemporary motivation music for women to self-pity and went way more explicit as well. 

She killed her own career.

If you can get tickets, 100% worth going. She's incredible, and the live mixing for some tracks that im not a fan of made me a fan of those songs lol
