At least 40 people mainly youths have drowned in an attempt to cool off from deadly heat in the latest European heat wave

 

One of the most affect Countries is France. With only 20% of the population having AC, the 40C to 44C (104F to 111F) temperatures are hard to handle 

 

Edit: interesting, this seems to be happening every 30 years like clock work. 1947, 1976, 2003, 2026

I only remember hitting 40C like once or twice since I been in Canada (not counting humidex, it surpasses 40C every summer if we count humidity factor)

 

Id have died without AC. I know European AC rates are lower even in the developed Nations but 20%??? Had no idea it was that low

If we want to stop global warming at this point, then we need to start looking past morality. We need to start raiding data centers and factories to get the message across. If laws don't do anything, then the people must.

I think we should start with the rich first, their contribution to global warming is unrealistic, on one hand they will post something about global warming to please the people and then take their private jets for some shopping day in another city.

The coming days will be 37-39 °C in Belgium. I'm going to Werchter Boutique this Saturday (a festival) but it will be a disaster in this heat

There gotta be a threshold where enough and enough for Europeans and get those damn AC installed at their homes. Dying from Summer weather is just sad and tragic tbh

I own my own home in London and looked into getting AC in one room - it’d cost me £4000 (like 6/7000 dollars). I understand why AC isn’t common in Europe.

It cost that much because the demand is low tbh, it's the economy law, profit margins and all that. They can't do mass production and have large infrastructure scale in EU that can make it cost lower until there are large demands to justify that business move.

omg you can get a much cheaper one than that, you don't need a whole unit installed

my friend has one where you just put water/ice in a tray underneath and it's like £200+
