Troye doesn’t get bashed because he’s a conventionally attractive twink. On the other hand, every time Sam Smith wears a dress (even that gorgeous Erté at the Met) they get called desperate and sick in the head (even here). There’s definitely pretty privilege in the equation with Miss Boone, Miss Sivan and Miss Styles. Therefore I can see the point that it feels like mockery when straight (allegedly) guys do it because they fit the cis mold they are not held to the same standard by the GP. When it’s attractive enough or cis enough it’s ok, when it’s sincerely queer or imperfect it’s not. That’s not necessarily on the boys mentioned however, and maybe not the most fair way of looking a the situation. The lines from the sleeves into the body are off because of the cuffs & the collar. The headpiece looks out of proportion with the dress. The collar creates a neckline that is obscured by the accessory so they look mismatched. And the sleeves drooping combined with the curtain tassles attached to them just drags the garment down so it looks like it's hanging off Sam. Great idea, terrible execution. Absolutely there was a few posts, but ive seen Sam threads turn into absolute cesspits on the first page in the past. From what I can remember, the majority of sam related comments that night was just not liking the look. Because lets face it, Sam has demonstrated a terrible taste in fashion.
