PornoDanceFight — “This track with Stefani confronting Gaga is a great hybrid of a ballad-dance song (which is what this whole album maybe should've been tbh), and it really leans into her Elton John influences. It's bracing, direct, and honest, but should be a bit longer with different production elements to really make it soar.”

Lemon Blood — “I don’t know what it is about this song that I enjoy so much but I actually really like it. I would’ve loved to hear her record a ballad version of this song.”

I feel this especially in the bridge when shes talking about ‘Malibu Gaga, looks so sad, what is this saga?’ In my mind she was absolutely talking to the fans who didn’t get the Joanne era. I loved this honesty from her.”

I'm not the biggest fan of the hi-hats happening there - they just feel like they're there for the sake of filling the empty space within the instrumental and not in a good way, like a lot of those generic trap tracks that have been charting in the latest years. Oh and I find the way she belts ‘PLAAASTIIIICCC’ in the outro very enjoyable too. Damn actually a lot of these songs are quite a vibe you know... if only they were executed in much better way.”

i think people might change their mind a lot about the album as years go by. For example I do remember fans at one point heralding GUY as the second coming when ARTPOP came out and were convinced it was the next hit off of the album in 2013. And well…

I mean I was a massive Chromatica fan back in 2020. But its aged terribly and the production for 90% of the album is just genuinely boring that it drags down any genuine bright moments like lyricism etc. 

As for the specific meaning of this song, she's done the same topic far better before and since.
