Goes out to show how unoriginal and uninspired those marketing strategies are... There's no going back to anything, really, just an artist growing older and evolving.

I think Lady Gaga is definitely one of the artists in which we can clearly see that throughout all her discography. And well, I think those who really love her and follow her work, when we look back, it's clear as day and I'm so happy for her, this woman deserves the world

Idk I feel like we lost her after ARTPOP, she wanted to and DID so much for that era, but then whatever happened in the backstage destroyed her. Joanne was her softening her image to go more easily into the ASIB character, because noone would take an ARTPOP Gaga for that kinda roll :ladyhaha: Chromatica was her Bloodpop trying to give us Gaga while she didn't wanna be Gaga cause she was too deep in the acting thing.. like she even planned an extra short era.. but I do feel like Mayhem is a retun to form, more than to her roots. She did an actual era, pretty great promo, iconic vids and blended excellently her artistry with commercial projects (TDD, the DWP soundtrack etc). But more than an evolution I'd say its a natural progression from the chaos of ARTPOP.

Well it is interesting that you say that because even though Gaga/her label changed things from the demos to appeal more and tone it down slightly critics at the time still trashed ARTPOP for being too chaotic and out there/crazy and experimental. I personally don't see huge differences between the demos and final versions for most of the songs. Swine, MANiCURE, Venus, Do What U Want and Gypsy are quite similar to the demos but the only ones that were largely changed were Aura(well mostly just the verse vocals and name of the song of Burqa to Aura), ARTPOP(if you count the iTunes festival version as the demo but Gaga did say she didn't want the song to change much or "explode" like the others and she wanted to keep it simple) and Fashion!.

You don’t think manicure…with that entirely different intro and bridge and tweaks to the rest of the structure…was different?? Manicure and Gypsy were imo the most changed ?? Gypsy is basically a total lyrical rewrite

like yeah they’re demos so the spirit of the songs is the same. Gaga is a chorus girlie ofc, but at least on those two the songs changed dramatically from their demos and in ways that 1000% scraped their identity . The manicure demo, for instance, makes it fit alongside Donatella very well on the album whereas the album version you’re like ok sure yeah

Ok I get your point,(it has been a while since I listened to the gypsy demo so I forgot) when people talk about the major differences they usually mean to do with her vocals and the song structures or hugely different changes. MANiCURE's demo just sounds like an unfinished version of the final song due to the repetitive structure(hence why it is a demo) but I don't feel like the final version and demo are widely different compared to something like Gypsy(like you said.). I guess I just see them as incomplete versions of the album ones as her demos usually are(like Applause, Just Dance, The Fame), the way fans talk about the demos(or the Itunes festival versions) is like they are completely different songs to what we got on the album and I have never seen them that way.
