Shakira openly admitted that she settled the 2012 -14  under coercive threat of an 8 year prison sentence to protect her young children from a toxic trial which is completely understandable

there were so many photos of her from public events and paparazzi photos from those years that she had no chance to win it, so she accepted a plea deal. She played the victim and said she did it for her kids, but she knew they had enough evidence and witnesses.

Paparazzi photos from a global superstar's public life is not exactly irrefutable proof of tax liability. Let see clear bank records, official immigration stamps and signed contracts. Thats how tax liability is proven and if they had any these iron clad legal tools they wouldn't need to rely on tabloids and paparazzi shots.

The "defending a rich celebrity" line is so ironic considering how yall defend other rich celebrities everyday on here for different reasons.

Also admitting to funding a person you actually believe 100% is a fraudster is questionable behavior on your part and strips you off any moral superiority you may think you have over me.

They conducted an investigation and determined that Shakira received private French lessons in Spain, her Zumba instructor was named Betsie, that she went to the hairdresser twice a week, and that her expenses at El Corte Inglés, restaurants, and hotels were paid for by her assistants with American Express credit cards. She went to the Teknon clinic where she gave birth to her children, under the pseudonym Sila Prieto.

Credit cards have also been essential. Her brother Antonio—whom Shakira identified during the inspection as the “security team coordinator”—and three of the singer’s assistants spent a staggering €418,046 in 279 locations in Barcelona over four years. The payments correspond to services used by them, but primarily by the singer: restaurants, pharmacies, taxis, hotels; among others, for Anna Kieser, the trainer who “got her in shape after her pregnancy,” the report details.

Shakira didn't visit the Bahamas once during that period. Nor has she provided any proof (such as plane tickets). The Caribbean island plays a central role in this story. The inspector denounces Shakira's "complete lack of cooperation," as she stubbornly maintains "without proof" that she didn't live in Spain until the end of 2014, when she was already a mother to her first child (Milan) and pregnant with her second (Sasha). During the inspection, the artist stated that until then she resided in a house she bought in Nassau for $1.1 million. She offered as proof a permanent residency permit granted by the Bahamas in 2007. But the inspector demonstrated that the only requirement to obtain this permit is to buy a house; the more expensive, the better, because "if it exceeds a certain amount, the process is expedited." Shakira submitted utility bills for electricity, water, and cable television for her Nassau home. It turned out that these services were paid for by a company and weren't used by her, but rather by the employees who looked after the property.

The Spanish Tax Agency obtained the singer's client record from a beauty salon in Sarrià, in Barcelona. They gathered information on the days she visited the Teknon clinic. They asked Getty Images, the agency that regularly photographs her professional and personal life, for details on the locations and dates of certain photographs . They learned which days she rented and used the Mandinga recording studio, owned by the Muñoz brothers (Estopa), in Sant Feliu de Llobregat. They contacted Codorniu to find out the dates for filming a music video with Maná at the Rondel cellars in Penedès (Barcelona). They learned from her hairdresser that he would style her hair at her home in Esplugues twice a week. At the children's elite school, they were informed that the mother is one who takes them in the mornings and that she "regularly" attends meetings.

The inspector “identified” Shakira’s entire inner circle: her parents and siblings, her assistants, the director of the Pies Descalzos Foundation; her accountants, stylists, producers, and American friends. Even her trusted doctor in Colombia. All of them, at some point during the years under investigation (2011-2014), visited her in Barcelona. Most came specifically from the United States. “If she really resided in the Bahamas,” she reflects in the report, “it would have been much easier for them to visit her at her residence in Nassau.”

Notice how that entire text is nothing but a mountain of circumstantial gossip. The state had to track down a Zumba instructor named Betsie, request files from Getty Images paparazzi, and interview her hairdresser twice a week precisely because they completely lacked ironclad electronic border logs or passport data proving 183 days of physical presence.

Getting your hair done or having an assistant buy groceries in Barcelona proves she visited her partner, it does not prove she crossed the mandatory 183 day legal threshold for global tax liability. A year has 52 weeks so going to a hairdresser during the weeks she was visiting doesn't account for the rest of the year when she was filming The Voice in the US or touring globally.

The fact that they intended on parading her gynecologist, her grocery cashiers, and her kids school teachers into a courtroom was a calculated, highly invasive media circus designed to weaponize an 8 year prison threat and force settlement.

Any person with connected braincells should be questioning a tax authority that is willing to completely fabricate multi million euro claim for 2011. Not to mention the fact that the same authority operates a controversial bonus system which allows them to collect direct personal bonuses based on the amount of penalties they liquidate.

Sister, as a spaniard and proud socialist, I defend the system you're against of.

She claimed tax residency in the Bahamas at this period of time - but evidence suggests she never actually lived in her Bahamas property as the only costs proven were for basic caretaking costs by permanent staff and there was little to no evidence of her travelling there.

So i assume this was the fraud portion of the battle
