crazygato 571
I believe that the 5 singles chosen for BTW were correct BUT released in the wrong order. This is important because it can make or break an era . I think by the time TEOG was rolled out, plus the reléase of the álbum, People were oversaturated with Gaga. So this is How I would have done it keeping the same 5 singles: START! 1. Born This Way (February 2011) 2. Marry The Night (May 2011) NO PROMO SINGLES!!! 3. The Edge of Glory (August 2011) 4. Judas (November 20111) 5. You And I (February 2012) END! Imagine MTN as one of Gaga’s signature hits?! Imagine TEOG at the VMA’s and a better MV?! Imagine no promo singles ruining the era? Imagine Judas with a longer and more controversial MV during the Holidays?! Imagine the friendly You And I as an era closer and a Valentine’s day reléase? I think the era would have flowed more smoothly This Way. Yes, Im bored, bit what do you think? How would you reléase the 5 singles?

RichAssPiss 5,022
I really think the whole thing could be changed with Marry the Night as the lead single. It really conveys the sonic signature of the album and would not have been plagued by comparisons.

I would reléase MTN as the follow up and promote them together as they are both “sister” songs. MTN as a follow up would have blown up, especial since it would be released in May close to the álbum and People wanting to hear more! 2

warhol killah 8,895
I think that the Born This Way - Marry The Night - The Edge of Glory single trio run should have been what they did. I also think they might have only released Judas as a single because it has that The Fame Monster sound. So yes I agree, Marry The Night should have been one of the earlier singles. a GAGA sound fanatic ✴ graphic design

Exactly! It would have flowed smoothly and it would better showcase her musical growth. BTW-MTN-TEOG are sister anthems and shouldve represented BTW álbum as a whole. Judas and YAI are outliers in that they try to recreate a past sound (Judas) or very niche and different (YAI).

I don’t even consider it a single imo And not have one of her best music videos ever ? She was telling her story with this and it was a 5th single. Any other popstar would've just done one of those videos with live footage from the concert as 5th single video. This is the thing about Gaga, she plans music videos to what she wants to say and they respected her vision to make that mini film. But anyway, I like the songs they picked but will always wonder what would've been like if Marry The Night was the lead as she wanted, and then Born This Way as a 2nd single bigger punch kind of what she does now with Disease -> Abracadabra, Stupid Love -> Rain On Me, Just Dance -> Poker Face.
Monstermilo 5,429
marry the night couldve been huge if it had been promoted properly it flopped cuz 4 other singles came before it
HotLikeMexico 6,209
I do think Marry should’ve been released second. I think Judas that early ****ed up the era. also my little coconut brain always wished Judas and Bloody Marry would’ve had connected MVs, assuming Bloody Mary ended up a single in my fake timeline. It would’ve been so easy and cool to make them companion pieces.
GreenEyes 1,119
How can some of you be saying marry the night shouldn’t have been a single? That music video alone is so top tier. The born this way singles and music videos are all perfect. I wouldn’t change anything. I watch them all in a row and it gets me every time, what an era. juicyjuicy 2,002
Born This Way as lead single was genius marketing and absolutely the right move. Personally, it's actually one of my least favourite Gaga songs EVER, but I am forever grateful for its huge cultural impact and the message it conveys.
