They say this for the women and the men themselves ‘buy’ young boys from a literal marketplace. Burn the leaders and the men tbh

That's part of Afghan culture. They have a saying that goes: Boys are for pleasure, women are for babies.

Why did I always think this was a myth. I've seen videos of men dancing provocatively with other men and I just couldn't believe that was happening in those societies.

I think, in principle, almost every religious fundamentalist group (Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike) would probably want to treat women this way, but one thing that makes it worse here is the fact that it’s sanctioned and dictated by the state. Sure, Jewish orthodox communities in the US, for example, can get away with a certain level of repression of women, but because they ultimately operate inside of a legal system that recognizes women as having equal rights (as imperfect as that system may be), those women would be protected if they stepped out of their communities and reported to law enforcement and their abuser would be held accountable. Here, however, the Taliban has made it all but impossible for women to be protected against abuse and, instead, seems to be encouraging that abuse.

From Israeli perspective, they do control a lot of things in the country for example there are 2 kinds of supreme courts, the democratic one and the orthodox one, and a few months ago the government gave more power to the orthodox court in a few matters, for example in divorce, which in Israel is only possible through the orthodox court, so far the ex couple could handle the whole money and kids issues with lawyers like normal people, but now the man can block it and move the whole thing to the orthodox court and some rabbi can now decide that the mother can't see her kids and won't get any support.

They also control the kosher certificates, they are blocking public transportation on the weekend.. and so on

And in their own cities and neighborhoods, the women goes to the back of the bus, there are no women in advertisements, some go extreme and have one road for men and one road for women.. they control what they wear and other sh-t.. and it's all legal, there are actual laws for this..

So it's not so so different.. it's just hidden behind democracy and the global media is not really talking about it and showing the real face of this religious country..

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

its so ****ed up. im from pakistan and this time there was even a public 'show' for 'beautiful pathan boys' and the 'most pretty' of them was sold for 3 million pkr which is like $10k. i watched the video and the worst part was that he was a kid around 13-14 and he was genuinely happy as he was paraded around and people called him pretty. many celebs spoke out against it but it was quickly hushed by the government

the even most ****ed up part when you speak against such things and try to shame them they go 'dont do this it will be used by people to criticize  our religion'
