It's okay everyone. If it gets to the USA, with the current administration it'll spread very fast and well die faster. :traumatica:

Lol tbh covid was part of what got Trump NOT elected in 2020... don't want it to spread but I'm all for him saying stupid sh*t about it to turn off his supporters for the midterms

About 40 passengers from a cruise ship hit by a deadly hantavirus outbreak disembarked on St. Helena, according to Dutch officials. Authorities did not confirm where they are now.

My God….

You don't need to name it, I don't want to doxx you :laughga: But I visited the three biggest islands many, many years ago, like before I was ten. Just my supercuriosity: Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote? Or leaning towards Fuertaventura, La Palma? You don't need to answer! A yes or no in either direction is also more than this random deserves.

I really just want to say, compared with so many other places all over the world that I got to visit before I became sick I was and am still just so in love with the people, culture and ofc the nature almost everywhere we visited, the breathtaking beauty made a deep impact on this city girl. You have a deep place in my heart. I keep hoping for the best for you guys vis a vis Spain, truly.

Sorry for being a tourist, it wasn't as bad 25 years ago as it is now (it was all hotels and barely any rentals, let alone AirBnB) and I was kinda a child but just wanted to say that. The Canary Islands are all amazing in their own unique ways and I'm glad I could experience them but again, sorry for taking you for granted. Wishing you all the best

This is feeling like December 2019 when I caught covid because I was working in a uni with a high pop of Chinese exchange students who'd all just come back from trips home.

Who wants to place bets on how long the lockdowns last

My God….

No tracking whatsoever, it's like we learned nothing from the horrors of Covid (though yes, of course hantavirus is something very different, but it just HAD to be this one strain...). Thanks for keeping tabs. We shouldn't panic but be vigilant all the same, like you. Hoping the Dutch flight attendant gets well AND HER MOVEMENTS TRACKED. :fail: 8 weeks is a super long incubation phase and she's now just unwell...

Good thing we didn’t just spend the past 6 years collectively weakening our immune systems with repeated COVID infections and allowing cranks, crackpots, and conspiracy theorists to destroy the public health sector.

Wait, uh…

Not really were I was, I even got a Covid renewal shot weeks after my flu shot a couple months ago, but I feel you. When your government just doesn't care (let alone with what's happening now where I strongly guess you are :wtfga:) you really can't do a thing about any of it. Sending love and all the best.

Glad to hear you’re still getting boosted, but boosters only seem to have marginal impact on reducing post COVID sequelae and long COVID overall (40% being the upper range of prevention). Was fully boosted and have had long COVID for about 4 years with no end in sight. Not trying to soapbox here, but there’s pretty solid evidence that, in spite of vaccination status, repeated COVID infections result in chronic immune dysregulation for years after and, anecdotally, I feel that’s pretty well-represented by the fact that everyone seems to be getting sick way more frequently and for longer durations than they were years ago (getting multiple colds and flus a year outside of “cold and flu season,” having intense colds for 2.5 weeks etc.).

A recent study actually showed that, when looking at the overall health of individuals who had COVID, had COVID and “recovered,” and those who had long COVID, the biggest differential was not between those who had recovered and had never had it vs. those with long COVID, but rather between those who had had it and those who had not. No doubt the US is in a worse position than many other countries, but this is by no means just a US problem, unfortunately.

Glad to know you love them as much as we do here. Aint nothing wrong with tourists, but more with the tourism that the government keeps promoting.

Yesterday the president of the Canary Islands was worried about the ship arriving here, you'd think is something obvious to worry about, but then he added "'cause this could scare tourism and we are touristics islands" showing he wasnt worried about us, but worried about not getting profit from tourism.
