These campaigns only do these kind of cringe things when they are specifically trying to backpack onto a trend to speak to the youth vote. 

And like I work in one of the biggest cities in the UK. Brat was everywhere. It was even in Oxfam charity shop displays of "how to dress for Brat summer". 

Like it's ridiculous to say Brat had no cultural currency. 

I’m not saying it had none - but I’m saying it was something colloquial amongst a very specific demographic. People’s parents and grandparents do not know Brat, they do not know Charli. But those people probably have some awareness of Pokemon Go - even my septuagenarian parents know about PoGo. And perhaps those Brat things you’ve seen in the physical world were pervasive in the UK, maybe they were even just pervasive in your city and not the UK at large, but here in the States I did not see even a single real world reference to Brat.

Actually, that’s quite literally exactly what they do. They target messages to specific niches, do events for just specific demographics, participate in organizations for small niches. In the US, elections are won on margins - and in the case of the Harris campaign, alluding to Brat Summer was specifically targeting the 18-25 TikTok obsessed girls and twinks - unfortunately they had more peers that were interested in becoming Trad Wives and Alpha Looksmaxxers than those who were having a Brat summer.

I can assure you, that is not the case. Algorithmically driven confirmation bias just makes you think everyone sees it; but it’s the same reason y’all don’t think the Hot 100 is relevant - it’s showing data from a much wider subset than just what you’re experiencing on TikTok and in your friend circles - who of course have shared interests.

Genuinely depends on what style, tbh. I could see her pulling off a punk/post-punk adjacent style (and wouldn’t be surprised if she utilizes heavy distortion on the vocal)

Yeah, I’m not really sure why people are acting like this type of record is a stretch/out of character for her. She has a fair number of tracks that already live in an electroclash type space, she has a fairly punk/rocker attitude on stage, and she even has tracks that fall under the broader umbrella of rock. She even did a Ramones inspired cover of Shake It Off by TSwift!
