Yall Amerie already used this sound in her first album in 2002 produced by rich Harrison who also produced crazy in love. Listen to ameries debut album "all i have" and you'd know people aren't just making this up.

Amerie pioneered that sound that inspired a lot 2000s Rnb artists including Beyonce and never got credit for it. Infact she had to fight her label to release 1 thing. I think she even had to leak it herself.
