RAMROD 117,048
The International Olympic Committee has approved a new policy restricting participation in women’s events to athletes deemed “biological females,” a decision set to take effect at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and expected to exclude transgender women while expanding scrutiny of athletes’ bodies. “Eligibility for any female category event at the Olympic Games or any other IOC event, including individual and team sports, is now limited to biological females,” the IOC said in announcing the rule. The policy establishes a new eligibility standard based on a one-time genetic screening for the SRY gene, which is typically associated with male sex development. Athletes who test negative would be cleared to compete in women’s events, while those who test positive would be barred, with limited exceptions for some athletes with specific intersex variations. “Athletes who screen negative for the SRY gene permanently satisfy this policy’s eligibility criteria for competition in the female category,” an announcement from the IOC reads. “Unless there is reason to believe that a negative reading is in error, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime test.” The move follows mounting political pressure in the United States as Los Angeles prepares to host the 2028 Games. President Donald Trump said earlier this year that transgender athletes could be denied visas to enter the country for competition and signed an executive order aimed at barring transgender women from participating in women’s sports domestically. Advocacy groups quickly condemned the decision, warning that the policy extends beyond transgender athletes and could subject all women competitors to invasive scrutiny. https://www.advocate.com/news/olympics-ban-transgender-women?1 (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ ᶠʳᵒⁿᵗ ᵗᵒʷᵃʳᵈ ᵉⁿᵉᵐʸ (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡

PartySick 172,533
Any athlete, team, advertisers, participants of any kind that remain involved should be seen as endorsing this asinine view. Especially women 'cause the vast majority of people hurt by anti-trans laws, bans, and fear mongering are cisgender females. weed 78,937
So many thoughts but idk what to say!! I hope trans men dominate and win, I hope trans women dominate and win. Of course it will be difficult playing against the gender you do not identify as, but I hope they push through and try and succeed. all this talk about biological advantage yet Phelps was never disqualified! How the hell would little old me swimming every day of my life beat someone with biologically bigger lungs and whatever else he has. Ban people over 6'5" from competing in basketball or anything else where height helps. How is that fair to the amazing 5'9" basketball player?? Tbh, weight and height classes would probably just be the most fair (and easiest way to end controversy too). They could even throw in body composition metrics in a class such as % of muscle for example to account for actual strength vs fat This way it does not matter if men and women disproportionately make up more of some strength and height categories because either way, ur competing against comperable opponents and sex (at birth or transitioned) would be irrelevant 3

Imagine dedicating your whole life to a sport, qualifying for the team, and then not being sure if you want to even do it because some idiots are in charge. Plus I'm not sure they could possibly even pull out contractually speaking. That said, I hope CA finds a way to pull out of hosting them. That would probably change minds fairly quickly. 5 minutes ago, hELXIG said: Why tf is the Olympics being held in the US? I thought most of the world was boycotting the US right now? Trump hadn't had the chance to really ruin it yet.

They announced Paris 2024 and LA 2028 at the same time iirc to give host cities enough time to organize.
