That said, I don’t see Joanne as old school, so maybe ARTPOP is the real cut off Edited Wednesday at 11:51 AM by Celloo Deng she/her 🖤 Gaga, Billie, MJ

TEANUS 15,979
TF through BTW is the first phase (2008-2011) “Old School Gaga” ARTPOP is its own phase (2012-2013) “Public scrutiny and controversy era” Cheek to Cheek and the tributes were a phase (2014-2015) “Oh she’s actually talented” Joanne is its own phase (2016-2017) “Americana, adult contemporary Gaga” A Star Is Born through Chromatica (2018-2023) “We love her again” And now MAYHEM (2024-present) British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
Jarvin 1,409
PHASE ONE 2008- 2012, MEGA STARDOM - this is old school THE BIGGEST STAR ON EARTH - Mystery, living art, no distinction between fantasy and reality. ICONICCCCC but not sustainable. 2013 - 2014 middle phase FINAL EXPLOSION OF THE CRAZY, TRAUMA DRIVEN ART FREAK fantastic art but very painful period 2014-2021 Difficult, uncohesive phase Healing era where Gaga feels kind of not so Gaga to herself, difficulty with fame becomes worse. Great music, great art, but Gaga seems unhappy 2022 - now Matured Gaga. ‘Crazy’ fashion, dark imagery feels authentic again. Clear distinction betweet Gaga and Stefani. Happier artist, creatively in balance! Time to be a mother!!!!

I feel if COVID didn’t happen we would’ve seen a MASSIVE era with Chromatica (we already know this is the case given the plans for the era that had to be scrapped, but she still delivered more than expected given the circumstances). Since ASIB you can tell her team is much better and her production value on performances has risen tremendously. Seeing how Harlequin live was filmed and the tour camerawork for MAYHEM Ball you know she is just chronically serving and it’s a brilliant sight to see. Most importantly, I love how joyful she has been with her projects now, around the ARTPOP era I was worried due to her team but she’s surrounded by intelligent people that seem to have better care for her❤️

vmpiregrn 1,015
having been around since just dance i still feel like it’s just the fame and sooner but realistically i suppose the answer would be ARTPOP, backwards.
MOT 3,472
Old school is up to and including BTW. Cheek To Cheek, Joanne and ASIB are new school. ARTPOP is middle school. Musically it is much more connected to what went before it than what came after it, but it is still different and everything came crashing down for her with that album, and it precipitated her re-birth and Sound Of Music etc. So ARTPOP definitely an in-between point for me.
