The BBC is planning to examine the life and career of J.K. Rowling in a two-part documentary that is likely to spark significant scrutiny.  The first episode will spotlight the creation of Harry Potter and the stratospheric success of the wizarding universe created by Rowling.

The second episode will examine her interventions on Scottish independence, feminism, free speech, and gender identity, which place her at the heart of increasingly bitter online exchanges. The documentary will draw on “rare” archive, Rowling’s own words, and interviews with people who worked with her during her career.

The documentary will premiere after HBO’s Harry Potter series premieres in December.

The only documentary about her that I approve her is Phelomena Cunk ripping her to shreds with Daniel Radcliffe and Bimini as special guests

Soft, soothing, and succulent

The mold that took over her brain is craving the spotlight. Cool.

I grew up with her IP as my identity, and the only thing I have to say to her today is “f— you for the harm you have done, and thank you for pushing me to grow up and explore other worlds. I hope you one day feel an ounce of the pain you caused.” I am curious to see how they attempt the second episode, but I’m gonna read about it. I have zero desire to hear her talk about the lgbtqia+ community again. And after quadrupling down, there is no forgiveness to give. Anger does not even touch how I feel about HP and JKR rn

gender studies scholars, psychologists, psychiatrists, sociologists, biologists, neuroscientists, and many more professionals are all studying gender identity in their respective fields, but what does the british writer think? :triggered:

the whole harry potter franchise and jk rowling are going to leave a messy legacy, and she's well aware of that. i'm assuming she's backtracking now that the HBO series is in the works and she can't be as miserable so freely because she's booked and is probably scared of it affecting the HBO harry potter series' success, but it's probably not going to make it into the final season anyway.

why not just make a documentary about people who have actually studied, experienced and/or lived the subject of gender identity instead of what the bitter old white lady thinks

something that can actually push some positive, factual narrative on the world

mother, what must i do?

Leoooo

This popped up on my phones news screen earlier today
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10/13/bbc-making-jk-rowling-documentary-without-input-from-author/

Apparently she has no involvement in it, so it wont be a JK advertisement atleast - How unafraid they are to paint her badly remains to be seen, the fact they don't want her involved is somewhat of a positive sign I guess

Omg, why is Harry Potter stalking me into my adulthood? It was only ever supposed to be something in childhood. It happened, it's over. This continued attention and media blitz is so artificial and forced

you missed a bit

There is a whole new generation now and it will be part of their childhoods as well. It's with us forever.
