911 is her peak creativity although it's been deeply inspired by The Color of Pomegranates. The storyline, the acting, the execution, the costume design are all masterpiece. Therefore I'm choosing 911 here.

G.U.Y. is also a good, long, high budget music video where she used various ideas she had that could've been different music videos themselves. But that the ethos of ARTPOP, like different ideas can belong together.

Oh I didn’t even see “video” and still said 911 :laughga: I feel like by video standards GUY is good and would be better were it just narrowly a pop video in that gorgeous mansion. But the concept is only so so executed. She was definitely tired af.

911 kinda comes out of nowhere as a pretty good video. Indebted, yes, but also one of those rare occasions where her kooky ideas actually ties directly to the subject matter of the song and not a long winded interpretation of the song. I love those videos ofc but things come together well on 911 that’s nice to see

I like moments in GUY and it's clearly got great production values, but it just doesn't quite gel for me.

It doesn't make enough of a connection to the song that it's made for. As one of her more autobiographical videos it's probably the one I return to least. The bit by the pool with the resurrection is just a bit long and poorly paced. The cameos feel a bit dated and I didn't really appreciate them then, let alone now. It's got some stunning visuals. I do love the juxtaposition of her being injured with the corporates walkie away and ARTPOP's instrumental mournfully playing over the top at the start. The resurrection of Jesus and Michael Jackson scene is a bit odd and jarring. The "story" overall is a bit meandering.

Whereas I find 911 to be a simpler concept that is better made. Yeah the "twist" at the end is a bit hackneyed but ultimately it's in service of a simpler message that connects to the actual song - about having a break from reality and self-medication. The visuals are stunning. I also find there's a playfulness that I enjoy. Favourite parts are her doing the googley eyes at the "minds going to to many places" bit, also the floating angel part to symbolise a near death moment. And the head banging. It just a visually entertaining video that enhances the song in a way that isn't bloated or excluding.

The editing is sharper too, whereas GUY just seems to loose visual focus at a lot of points.

This was an easy choice for me - it's 911.
