It was pretty much the sentiment towards music back then - I'll only pay for it if I know for sure it's good. Which I have to say, is how I still look at music. The only time I buy albums blindly is for my ultimate faves. Everyone else, I listen to every song first before I decide if it's worth buying.

As negatively as streaming is sometimes viewed by fans of artists that debuted before streaming, I think this is where streaming can be really beneficial. If people aren't sure about something and they want to get a taste before buying it, then they can listen to it in a way that will actually impact its sales.

I wish the iLeaks website was still up so we could maybe see the numbers, but since the total illegal downloads for 2010 was over one billion we can assume that some of these download numbers are insane.
