Again, I never said racism isn’t at play, I just think racism (and bigotry in general) is generally downstream of a desire for power.

It wasn't. The US thought Iran would immediately fold after Khamenei's death, which shows an almost unbelievable idealistic thinking. Given that Iran, with all of its sanctions and history, didn't close the strait until now gave the US even more justifications for its perspective on it not being a problem. But Iran wasn't stupid, the us understimated the global south yet again.

One of the few ways this war can really end and show the world the US really is a "paper tiger" built on lies and deception, and that brute force isn't the answer to problems in international diplomacy, is Iran carrying out a nuclear test of any kind. Once the US feels those cataclysmic vibrations in the earth, it will immediately know once and for all that the Pax Americana and US domination are over for good.

Now can anyone tell me why should the governments of Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and the UK should risk open war with a country that has little to do with them, because Iranian government is a threat to some Middle Eastern country that POTUS cares more about than the lives of its citizens and military equipment that was stockpiled at the expense of American citizens having to pay 250 USD per a vial of insulin?

As someone who has very little use for gasoline.... personally I say let's keep this going until gas is so expensive that we need to move away from it. It can be a good thing at the end of the day

To an extent I agree but also this closure of the strait ends up adversely affecting countries that have nothing to do with Trump’s war of aggression, so it isn’t fair for them to have to be the victim over a petulant child’s temper tantrum. However, we eventually all will be affected by this globally. High oil and natural gas prices lead to higher transportation costs, which lead to higher grocery prices. We already are in an affordability crisis and this is only going to make things worse. What the ruling class fails to recognize, however, is eventually people will reach a breaking point where they have nothing to lose and will go after these rulers.

And even if we exclude ppl dying and focusing just on the economics, this goes way beyond oil

 

Oil may get all the media attention but im actually most terrified about the fertilizers that are stuck there. The middle East is a huge producer of Urea and other critical fertilizers and other petrochemical ingredients used in farming

 

U may think u wont be affected much cuz u dont drive but ull definitely feel this at the grocery store if this keeps dragging

 

Not just the price and shortages of food, but i hope they dont ration fertilizers so much to the bare minimum that our food also looses nutrition value  (assuming it can have that effect, im not an expert on that)
