I can't speak outside of the UK but the economic issues in the US are seen in the UK.

Mortgage rates are going up because of the Iran war. Unemployment is climbing and the jobs market is shrinking. And we've been in nearly 5 years of a cost of living crisis. 

From my own research, if you can get a job Australia is the best bet atm. But from the UK its hard to get there now due to the Iran war.

(this isnt a cry for help) but man the news cycle just makes me not wanna get out of bed. There is nothing to look forward to anymore. I miss being in 2015 when us millenials were so full of hope for the last time....

Same I’ve considered leaving all social media bc I really don’t think I can handle any more bad news. I’d give anything to be living in the same world I was even 5-10 years ago. Things feel like they are going to sh!t quick. The unfortunate part is too, is that no matter who takes office next, it’s going to take the majority of their term just to see the beginnings of any positive changes they might make. 
 

I also know that is a very privileged opinion to have, but my overall stress has been on the increase steadily for the past several years and I’m struggling really to keep up with everything. I feel so trapped.

Thats true your right about that. I wouldnt make a decision to complete change ur life based on any 1 president tho as they come and go and the political climate of today is not the political climate of tomorrow necessairily

 

But of course if u have citizenship and after weighing all the factors you think it makes sense, hey go for what makes sense for you

 

Im merely pointing out from an economic perspective a lot of what what ppl say they want to escape from, they will list a Country that on average is not any better thinking grass is greener on the other side

 

Id say Canada in general is better for the absolute most disadvantaged as they will still have most health care covered (I stress the word MOST as we have a lot of little gaps on the side of medical stuff that isnt covered, so Canada is not the best example of a truly fully Universal Healthcare). Our social safety nets as well as minimum wage etc tend to be slightly more supportive of the absolute lowest income than in the US

 

That being said, if u exclude the bottom 20% to 30%, i think just about everyone else is just as bad in Canada if not worse than in the US. Wages have stagnated relative to the US over the last 15 years. We used to be closer to par now were significantly behind for most industries as Canadian productivity has really lagged. So if u think American wages arent rising enough, Canadas REALLY arent.

 

Add to that a poor performing currency the last 10 to 15 years, and the cost of stuff has risen a lot here despite wages stagnating. Canada has the worst (or 2nd worst i forget) food costs in the G7 and the worst housing costs but we do not have the highest wages in the G7

 

We do protect our most disadvantaged more than the US, but the middle class and even low-middle class are absolutely crushed.

 

i cant complain, my wife and I are doinf extremely well but its due to a number of fortute circumstances and luck that all aligned together. Most of our friends our age (im 32) are barely getting by if they dont still live with their parents

Australia (at least statistically on paper) does in fact have one of the best economics for middle class in terms of wages to general cost of living.

 

That said when it comes to housing specifically Australia is pretty atrocious as well in most major cities and if ur a brand new person in a Country with no family or support, housing is always going to be a really big factor so thats something to consider

 

If I was American trying to escape and had family in the UK or Canada that could take me in temporarily to assist while I tried to get my life going and on my feet, id still take them over Australia

 

If ur brand new to any of them with no support, at least right now on paper, Australia seems like a top choice

 

I say on paper cuz in real life theres always nuances that dont always show up in headline statistics that can make some places appear better (or worse) than they actually are

Iran has basically stopped all maritime traffic in Hormuz so expect food prices to also skyrocket
