Oil prices surge, stocks tank, and US posts abysmal jobs report

NEW YORK — Oil shot to its highest price since 2023 after surging again Friday because of the Iran war, and a weak update on the U.S. job market knocked stocks lower to cap Wall Street's worst week since October.

The S&P 500 dropped 1.3% after a report showed U.S. employers cut more jobs last month than they created and after oil prices spiked above $90 per barrel. The combination of a weak economy and high inflation is a worst-case scenario for investors because the Federal Reserve has no good tool to fix both problems at the same time.

Helxig

Remember how one of trump's promises to his followers was lower gas prices :laughga:

Anyway. This is actually going to become a huge problem for everybody all around the world. Fuel prices here in NZ are already super high. When they start going up it's going to really suck

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

canada and australia/uk are looking more like the move for me

im stuck at a terrible job here, no one is hiring me after like 30 interviews (when ive easily gotten jobs in the past years barely even trying), and everything is so expensive.

i pay premium gas in AZ and its 4.80 a gallon? didnt he run on making things cheaper? so not only is democracy being destroyed but everything is expensive and we have a p3do running the white house. what a terrible time to be american. the mid terms better be a massive blue wave cuz something has to change, and we need more prgressive candidates......

We may not even have midterms if the war gets worse and Trump decides to take a page out of Ukraines playbook and hault voting during wartime. :sue:

Canadian here

Were not shielded from rising gas prices, the jobs market is also crap and wages suck relative to cost of living (especially housing and food)

Ive never been to the UK but I know it is also notorious for being expensive af relative to wages

Economically its hard to escape anywhere. All major developed economies seem to be in chronic decline for the middle class :saladga:
