She used to have such loud opinions about fairly niche topics and drew attention to small movements and now the government is sending masked soldiers into cities to execute people and she responds by wearing a button to the Grammys.

I've bitched about it enough I guess  I'm seeing her in 20 days in LA so I'm actively trying to drum up my excitement for the show. I don't wanna be in a seat that I paid nearly $300 for feeling bitter but it is damn disappointing to think about.

Maybe it’s just me, but I think in the end she’s not a bad person. I think she still has the same beliefs it’s just she’s not as active about them these days, I get it’s disappointing though and you never know she could return to being more outspoken one day.

No shade, but Europeans have no sense of how big and diverse the US is. I remember seeing a TikTok of someone from the UK thinking they could take a day trip to go to both NYC and Chicago 

But to your point: there are so many ethnically diverse communities across the entire country and, specifically, much of the southern US has such dense Latin enclaves that they almost feel like they’re completely different countries, but it’s all the US. That’s the beauty of it!

As soon as Cirkut won POTY i thought it was practically assured, since obviously the best producer would either be the producer of SOTY or AOTY. 

Also idk it's still bugging me how they treat Cher for her LV mistake, how that producer guy was rude and stand offish from her and how they said god governs their country and lives when Trump is.... Trump and there. I know that's such a superficial thing  but i think i'm madder about how they glossed over Cher's lifetime achievement award, gave a bunch of deceased artists a 10-15 minute slot, robbed Gaga of her logistically accurate win all back to back more than the AOTY snub.

Nah, she's not a bad person by any means. She has a lot of integrity, empathy, and class. She just doesn't use her celebrity status as she should is all.

I'm sure there's a psychological reason and I might rage about it later (feeling very mellow tonight xoxo) but the end result is the same: one of the loudest and queerest voices in the world is quiet while suffering and fear are everpresent in her neighbors, peers, and fans.

Being disappointed by that is natural tbh.

i mean... Americans also act like Europe is a country "I just got back from europe / i went on holiday to europe" teas. I think also because Trump is pushing HARD politically to make Mexico and LATAM seem like they're so far removed from the US when the actual fact is. North America exists because British catholic traditionalists invaded there, and Spanish traditionalist catholics invaded what would become Mexico.

I think after this she should just experiment all she wants... Casual fans just stick with her when it's a pop project, LMs will be with her no matter what and the Grammys, well... they'll keep robbing her every year. Maybe we need Michael crying about Gaga not winning enough like Jay-Z so they'll start giving her GF Grammys. Somehow Beyoncé managed to get at least 1 Grammy for each one of her projects but of course poor her never gets what she deserved and all it took was her p*do husband crying on stage about her not winning one category.

No matter what she does, they won't give her what she deserves anyways. ASIB would've been a great AOTY contender, yet it wasn't even nominated but the following years they nominated soundtracks. Both The Fame and The Fame Monster should've won AOTY, period. And MAYHEM deserved too but I think this year the situation was much more complicated because of politics and additions.

We, as fans, wanted more but it is what it is. Overall it was a good night for Mayhem: Gaga got two undeniable Grammys and Gesaffelstein won for Remix. And her performance, though not as extravagant as some demanded, it was new and unusual (which is why we're here right?). Mayhem had a strong wind behind it, and Gaga has a lot of good will, but it was never gonna beat the swell behind BB for AOTY. Song and record were a mess but Grammy gonna Grammy.

The American right and center like to project this image of homogeny here but it's such a lie. Our nation is built by, with, and for people of literally every background. Slaves, immigrants, refugees, natives, colonists, and more.

The consequence is that you'll find virtually every human culture that still exists somewhere within our borders and that's honestly such a point of pride we Americans can have.

Remove the government and corporations and the US is such a beautiful place

I mean, I think it’s fairly well-established that many Americans are geographically illiterate lol. I just think it’s funny that some Europeans get offended by the “We vacationed in Europe!” thing while simultaneously doing something very similar about the US (either compressing the size, diversity, culture, or politics). And you’re not wrong about the systematic othering of LATAM people in the US and LATAM in general by Trump, but I think that’s what Morphine Prince was getting at about propaganda not matching the truth on the ground.

As excellent as Mayhem was, I think it's clear that the Academy expects A-list artists to smash to win AOTY. And that means #1 singles, multiple top 10s, on top of critical acclaim of course and so on. They seem to not care about number of songwriters or producers as much anymore...

And I will continue to press that if GOE or VIY were singles in place of Disease or even Debra, the outcome could've been different. Or maybe not honestly given the math. But a stronger chance?
