I'm sorry but you're a bunch of fools if you think even for a second that this moron is worth your time and attention.

What do you mean he hasn’t been in the public eye for a while?

Just last year he released a song and MV called heil hitler and sold swastika t shirts

My point is he has done the bare minimum of apologising for his behaviour. Of course the apology doesn't excuse the awful things he's done, but if he is truly genuine and becomes a better person out of it, why not announce it before an album, considering since the above mentioned antics, he hasn't been in the spotlight. Spotlight = more exposure.

Seems suspicious of course, I agree. However, I can't see him apologising having any impact on his albums success. Those of us who are anti-kanye, will remain anti-kanye regardless of the timing of his post, because of the countless terrible things he's done. Better to have an apology than none at all - the ball is now in his court to show us that he is willing to make positive change

I think this site especially one that supports Gaga/Kindness Punks should learn to appreciate if someone with an actual mental health disorder is getting help. We won’t be able to tell if it’s genuine for now, nor do I particularly like Kanye West. But a certain level of grace should be had from those that suffer from an illness and are appearing to get help for it

I'm waiting for his redemption arc. Let's see how it pans out.

you are both being willfully naive. kanye west is a proud nazi and has actively enabled and encouraged facism. he has denied the holocaust, praised hitler, and sold swastika merch. the man has a song called heil hitler for gods sake. he doesn't deserve grace or understanding or even forgiveness regardless of his mental health struggles. if trump posted a notes app apology blaming his anxiety you people would forgive him in a heartbeat

Thank you!

It’s the same twisted thinking that was going on when that poor Ukrainian girl Iryna Zarutska was stabbed to death by Decarlos Brown Jr on that bus. A lot of soft-ass people were more keen on showing him sympathy because he was mentally ill rather than her. And that very same soft-ass thinking is what allowed him back on the streets in the first place and led to her death. A far more extreme example than Kanye yes; but mental illness does not excuse evil actions.

I love how he insisted that his apology was not a PR stunt.
Then a couple days later announces a new album.

This man doesn’t deserve redemption.

I’m sorry but one measly apology (probably not even written by him), after over a decade of spewing all kinds of evil bs, right when his new album is about to drop… it’s clearly a shallow marketing ploy. It’s blatantly disingenuous. And honestly a simple apology no matter how genuine is not enough at this point after the sheer amount of hatred he’s encouraged in potentially countless people. But unfortunately idiots will buy into the bs celebrities say and do all the time without question. Celebrities think they can get away with anything, and that one simple little apology post will do.

Seriously though I am not a fan but I do think people deserve second chances. If he goes beserk yet again, then this would have aged like milk and you would be right.

I'm personally not ready to listen to his music or support him in any way again. If you guys are idc go for it. I think everyone can have their own experience here. But it seems reasonable to me to wait a while to see how genuine he is, and if he can stay stable/sane/not-an-asshole/not a nazi for very long.

I agree with you, the apology doesn't undo all the horrible stuff he's done, but if it's the beginning of a better kanye, why not start with an apology and we will see if he holds true to it. Either way it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Plus all celebrities have massive PR machines driving most interactions they have with the public and online world, that's just the way it is. Most online discourse following the apology has shared the same sentiment that we do. He's not off the hook - he's far from it. But if he continues to take accountability for his actions, then I see that as a positive thing.

this.

we all have issues and experiences that lead to our actions, and going on a year+ long praise tour of Hitler and Nazis is a really unforgivable action

kudos if he wants to get his head right, but we (the general music-buying society) don’t need him
