People are being dragged out of their cars, workplaces and homes despite having the paperworks. Families torn apart. People literally killed like ****ing animals and I feel like its not getting half the coverage it should nor the reactions from other leading forces to demand a stop to this madness.. So excuse me if I'm pissed that little miss mayhem isn't using her platform like countless smaller acts. I'm even more disgusted with the likes of Swift, Mars, Styles and other bigger names that aren't saying **** either. But mostly by blatant stupidity of people who voted that monster into the role again after all the **** he did the first time around. Like we all knew it would be a shitfest, but not like THIS! ‘Little miss mayhem’ is currently on tour in a right-wing, conservative leaning country. For all we know she may be keeping silent to air cautiously to make sure we don’t see another version of Manchester. You may not agree, but I’d rather her guarantee the safety of these fans right now. I don’t need to see another eight year old lose their life at a concert. It’s fair to be angry and to want more people with bigger platforms to speak out. At the same time, the lack of grace or understand that there is nuance and gray area to these kind of things is part of why the global population is so incredibly divided right now. Gaga still may have things to say, and if she does, will you be happy and forgiving? Or will you double down and criticize that she should’ve done it sooner and it’s not good enough. There is no perfect approach to these things. Your personal posts on social media don’t put hundreds of thousands of people at risk.

Calling someone an "outsider" and the complaining about the silence on ICE's activities is not a cute look. Also, and on topic, there's a clear message releasing this song in this political climate, no matter who's paying for it to be released. Sweetie, it's all on the context, tone, and intended meaning. If one have good enough reading comprehension, they'd get what I meant with that is addressing someone looking at this from the outside, that they might not be seeing the full picture of the specific aspect, instead of me trying to "other" somebody. Also, and on topic, the message often becomes murky or compromised when a celebrity spreads positive, values-based messages while being sponsored by a corporation that does not align with those values. That can lead to audience skepticism, backlash, and the perception that the message is inauthentic or a money grab, and which why I ask what I asked on the OP, if people are OK with this collaboration. Even outside the political stuffs, many in her fan base can't even afford to buy a house right now. And part of the reason why there is a housing crisis right now is because of these real estate companies. It just a little out of touch of her. Which audience she is trying to reach with this? Certainly not most of her fan base. Moreover, Mr.Rogers would not likely stand for the current commodification of a basic human need like she is doing here. Just know that Fred Rogers never lent his name to commercial products, and in 1985, when Burger King released a commercial featuring an actor dressed like him under the name “Mister Rodney,” he was deeply troubled. Though the ad was meant as light-hearted parody, Rogers feared it might confuse children who trusted and identified with his television persona. “To have someone who looks like me doing a commercial is very confusing for children,” he explained. He personally contacted Don Dempsey, Burger King’s Senior Vice President, who quickly agreed to pull the ad. Despite a $150,000 investment, the commercial only aired a handful of times before being removed. “Mister Rogers is one guy you don’t want to mess with,” Dempsey later admitted. “As beloved as he is, it just wasn’t worth it.” Rogers took misrepresentation seriously—especially when it risked misleading children or compromising the values he spent his life nurturing. Well all this has been happening for nearly a year in various degrees, perhaps to a lesser less extreme extent, but she could have held anti Trump speeches for most her run on the tour in the USA, hell even a few weeks ago in OZ.. And at the end of the day, she probs sees a lot of ICE related videos, it literally takes a few seconds to hit repost or a few minutes to write something like what Katy bloody Perry did. I still love her artistry and music, however I've lost a lot of respect for her in the past few years. the makeup, the nutrec thing, barely speaking upon the travesties regarding Gaza, Ukraine, the violence that everyone is facing in terms of everything that the Trump administration is doing. I understand she's nearly 40, and that she perhaps wants to create a safe space for herself, Michael and future children, but if things keep moving on this way, I don't think the USA are gonna be safe for anyone but white Christian Nazis. This isn't the first time, nor does it change the reality of who she was prior to this. This specific partnership doesn't mean anything new, that's what I meant. She's engaged to a multimillionaire in finance and business management who has indirect ties to Trump. This particular brand of commercialism is hardly new for her, nor does it mean she only just became this way. I never said this was anything new. Or that this was coming as a surprise. Preaching kindness with a song in exchange for a big fat check sits weirdly with me, even without the whole political context. What's even the point of this ad? What are they selling?
Togekiss 3,123
I’ve always wondered why Dolly Parton gets away with not calling out conservatives more/directly. Maybe it’s because she minds her own business and leads by example, putting her money toward good causes, and spreading love as an entertainer. that like, reminds me of someone but I can’t quite put my finger on it Baskin Robbins

Are they actually right-wing and Trump-funding, or are we generalizing real estate as pure evil? Just a simple question: why the **** is Lady Gaga attaching her name to real estate business? Or to a pharma company? What's in it for her? The only common denominator is money, hence my check comment. Let's be honest, she could live more than comfortably with what she's making with music alone. The makeup, I can understand. But these random partnerships with big, opaque companies? Them being about "kindness" is why she chose to back them up? Please. Edited January 27 by elijahfan 1

I hear that. And I agree it’s beyond just the past week or so that she has been a lot quieter than the Gaga in her earlier days. I feel since the Joanne era she has started to shift her stance to more so of a ‘love for all’ than anything remotely divisive. I think Tony had influence on her to be more of an entertainer than a politician. When she sat at the piano during the Super Bowl, she said she wanted to make everyone feel good, and that’s the version of her I think we’re going to be getting for the time being. It’s different, but I still respect it. She has ways of stating her politics, like every time she performs Born This Way, for example. Or performing Angel Down at the Chromatica Ball. The same logic as I stated for Japan might be the logic she’s holding for the whole tour. To your point, the US is incredibly right-leaning at the moment and it’s f*cking scary as hell. It may take a few seconds to post, in the same way it takes one extremist to read it and cause as much destruction as possible in her name. I have conflicting feelings on the topic. I’ve grown to respect her choice to be a bit of a hippie and want love for all humans and provide an escapism for the horrors happening right now. Not everyone is going to agree, and I respect that too. It’s hard to say what I’d do in her position. For all we know, there have been threats to her/her shows that we don’t know about. For all we know, she’s become more Republican than any of us would’ve ever expected. At the end of the day, there’s a lot we don’t know. I definitely hear where you’re coming from though. If you think of it way back in her “Bangerz” era and onwards she was very anti capitalism and establishment. Now she’s shilling for Zionist companies and staying silent all together, strange.

The makeup, I can understand. But these random partnerships with big, opaque companies? Them being about "kindness" is why she chose to back them up? Please. The common denominator being money may be true, and in my opinion the next question to ask is, what is that money being used for? For all we know she’s taking that check and pumping it into charities or back democratic politicians fighting against the current administration. People have stated in this thread it’s not really real estate, but a company that helps with finances and is a real estate search engine. It’s important to ask more questions, like what if one of these companies is buying up properties to build mental health facilities or centers for victims of DV or safe spaces for immigrants? What if they’re putting profits towards politicians you personally would like to see in office? Who do they actually support and what are their political stances? Generalizing things we don’t understand as immediately bad is not a healthy way for us to be as a society. And if one side does that, it only gives permission for the other side to do the same right back The pharma partnership was a bust and made no sense. I still personally find there could be more to these things than meets the eye. And I could be completely wrong too.
