gagzus 23,134
If anyone has ever had any doubt that other factors and biases play into why celebrities dont receive acclaim or awards, let this be an example (this extends to the awards Gaga has never gotten nominated for or received too) 1
Lucas 31,126
I ain't reading the entire thing but it's clear this person refused to vote for Ariana and Cynthia based on criterias that are not related to their performance in the movie and that's a bit sad
Ivannn 1,150
Still some 5000 people can vote in acting categories. This was for sure reason some did not vote for them, but I do not think it affected the End result Of them not being nominated.

Creyk 18,652
Fact: It has only happened ONCE that an actor is nominated for the same role twice. It is extremely rare. Ariana already got her nomination for part 1, which was far better received. She is not a victim here.

This makes me 100% question if HOG and Gaga didn’t get nominated because of extra factors about the promotional cycle

No, but they’re admitting they have biases based on outside factors unrelated to the film. It exposes flaws and biases in closed award voting in general. An example I’ve used before; I’ve seen someone on the GRAMMY committee admit they voted for a different album than the one they thought was the best based on factors unrelated to the music 1) the producer of some of the music was a friend of a friend and 2) their opinion on the artist as a person not as a musician. Kinda furthers that people have actively not voted in these types of awards for deserving people based on their own biases. (I also think this is why Gaga didn’t get awards for BTW at the GRAMMYs because of her public image) Edited January 25 by gagzus
RaveMonster 613
Honestly they aren’t entirely wrong The movie is not that great and they did wast their chemistry by barely having any scenes together. Ariana’s best acting in the movie is when Cynthia is around at the end of the movie and her acting after the wedding is called off is horrible. Their behavior during the tour press shouldn’t be so relevant but she did not deserve the nomination and neither did wicked in any category except for maybe some technical categories Edited January 25 by RaveMonster

Just think about Lana Del Rey's born to die and ultraviolence. She was dragged through the mud. Then 10 years later when she proved herself, suddenly critics pretend her work was good all along. This is the reason why Beyoncé wins so many grammy awards. It has nothing to do with her music.

Sadly her image back then must’ve made an impact though because she never won awards and has become creatively stagnant as well sadly. Beyoncé however I disagree with, whilst CC isn’t her best work overall she absolutely deserved to win big because of her music impact and how well produced and sung the album was. People adamantly seem to believe Beyoncé wins not because of her talent but because of something else but nobody seems to say what else that is. What do you think it is personally? popkulture 639
Rightfully so. The movie was not good, the press tour was performative and desperate, and not all movies that have a high budget deserve awards. Money can't buy you class... or awards.
Emvee 8,830
Why are they citing things from their promotional tour? That’s where they lose their credibility. Had they just said “the movie was not that good” it would have been understandable, but they’re pretty much admitting that it was partially for personal reasons.
