Question for you then purely out of interest, what would you consider to be the top 5 hardest Gaga songs to sing? Perfect Illusion comes to mind (kind of obvious, ik). Just the relentless belting, the melody sitting right on her break but her keeping it in the chest register and with those vowel shapes…v difficult. Not sure I’d call this a definitive list, but: anything that sits in the high chest register is going to be difficult, so Disease is definitely very difficult (especially the ending), the dynamic range on Killah is very impressive (going from low vampy vocals to heady mix to all out horror scream), a lot of the big choruses on ASIB are def difficult (ITA, INLA in particular, just because of where they sit in her range and also how they oscillate from being powerful to being very delicate), her version of The Joker is also nuts (the sheer range, the grit and distortion, the powerhouse belting, and the eerie falsetto at the end) and I’ll throw the choruses of KFL and VIY in there (difficult vowel shapes, high notes, a lot of movement between different parts of her voice). MAYHEM is, imo, hands down her most impressive album vocally (aside from Harlequin). But I think you touched on something that’s an underrated aspect of what makes her unique and what makes some of her stuff hard to sing (especially on MAYHEM): how frequently she shifts vocal configurations (almost like she uses multiple “voices” within the same phrase and maybe half a dozen over the course of the same song). She really uses her voice like a tonal instrument like very few other vocalists I can think of in pop/rock (Bowie comes to mind, tho). Kind of a rant, but there ya go! haha We have forgotten our public MANNERS 1

Thank you SOAM!

The Cure is probably number one In the sense that no one should ever sing it? Yes. But, tbh, also a hard song to sing (very awkward vowel shapes in the chorus, mid-phrase jumps between head to chest to mix). Thank you SOAM! took me like 5 min to find that one lmaoo but I love it so much, love all the fun edits. I would say Joyride is still giving the blueprint, but SOAM is her replacement

Kind of a rant, but there ya go! haha This is fascinating thanks x (Yes I remember watching a vocal coach on youtube react to Gaga performing Perfect Illusion at the piano and she literally winced at the key change due to just how difficult that part is and how well Gaga executed it). Ye I think since we're all so used to Gaga that we don't always notice just how intricate her singing is. Like look at when Demi covered Disease and PC recently. She's a very talented and powerful singer hands down but she failed to bring those two songs to life the way Gaga does. I mean her instrumentals alone are always so elaborate, bombastic and wild; the sheer vocal gymnastics needed to not only work harmoniously with them but also shine over them as the star player is evedence enough. I'm fine, Ta

Poltergeist 3,781
Nope I really wanted to love it, but it's just... Okay with me. The snippet got me super excited, but the only parts I really love are the intro and the DOW-SHADA-WOOOOOW part. I think that the thing that makes the song not click for me is the first verse, it sounds like it begins mid-sentence, idk??? I've been getting messages from my deep waters
